Angel Reese Drops Epic 2-Word Reaction to Joining Candace Parker, Tina Charles in Elite WNBA List

Angel Reese passes Candace Parker on a special list after her double-double helped the Chicago Sky rally past the Los Angeles Sparks 97-86.

This season, Angel Reese has not been at her best. She is currently averaging fewer points and rebounds per game than in her rookie season while also having a poorer field goal percentage. On Tuesday, however, she filled the stat sheet in possibly her best game of the season, with an 18-point, 17-rebound outing against the Los Angeles Sparks.

This marked her 34th career double-double, moving her past Candace Parker (32) on the list of players with the most double-doubles in their first two WNBA seasons. She now only trails Tina Charles (45) on the list.

Angel Reese Passes Candace Parker After Historic Double-Double Milestone

Reese’s achievement is perhaps the most striking in her young career. Last season, she set franchise and rookie records in her first year in the league with 446 rebounds and 26 double-doubles. This was the most rebounds ever totalled in a single season, and it earned her All-Rookie honors and an All-Star selection.

Reese also set a WNBA record with double-doubles in 15 straight games and became the first player in league history to grab 20 or more rebounds in three games in a row. She achieved all this before she got sidelined late into the 2024 season due to a wrist injury.

After the win on Tuesday, Reese reshared ESPNW’s celebratory graphic on her Instagram Story and captioned it, “ELITE COMPANY”. The post had a collage of Parker, Charles, and Reese. According to the X account @PolymarketHoops, the Bayou Barbie became the fastest player in the league’s history to tally 150+ rebounds and 50+ assists in a season.

Athlon Sports reported that Reese also claimed the record of the fastest player in the history of the WNBA to amass over 600 points and 600 boards in Tuesday’s game. For the Chicago Sky, the win halted a three-game slide and improved their record to 4–10.

Chicago Sky Wins 97-86 Against Los Angeles Sparks

Reese’s latest historic performance came in a 97-86 triumph at Wintrust Arena. Kamilia Cardoso led the Sky with 27 points and seven rebounds on 10 of 15 shooting. Reese’s own dominance was the night’s storyline, though, and she was an efficient 6-for-12 from the field.

Chicago’s bench added 24 points while the Sparks only managed to get 12 points from their bench. In the final quarter, the Sky outscored the Los Angeles Sparks 30-17. The Sparks came in strong and took a 29-17 lead after the first quarter and had a halftime lead of 48-42. Chicago stayed in the game though and gained ground after outscoring their opponents 25-21 in the third quarter. They then put the game away in the fourth quarter.

Up next, the Sky hit the road to take on the Golden State Valkyries on Friday before meeting the Los Angeles Sparks for their regular-season decider on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena.
