Emma Raducanu’s Strong Queen’s Club Performance Sets Stage for Partnership

Emma Raducanu recently had a successful week at Queen’s Club as she made her way into the quarterfinals of the women’s event. She defeated Cristina Bucsa and Rebecca Å ramková in the first and second rounds, respectively. She displayed great form during her 2025 grass debut, winning her first match 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour.

Raducanu’s run at the tournament ended against Zheng Qinwen as she lost 6-2, 6-4 to the top seed in the quarterfinals. A big reason behind this loss was the back injury she’s been suffering since earlier this year.

After her exit, the Brit withdrew from the WTA 500 in Berlin and extended her stay in London. On Saturday, Jun. 21, she was spotted watching Carlos Alcaraz’s 6-4, 6-4 win against his compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut.

The former US Open champion became the No. 1 British woman during the tournament last week after Katie Boulter lost ranking points. Raducanu called her and Boulter’s battle for the top spot a ‘healthy competition.’

The Mixed Doubles Partnership of Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz

Emma Raducanu is set to play at the Eastbourne Open next week as her warm-up before Wimbledon. She will take on Ann Li in the first round on Monday. The Brit managed to reach the quarterfinals last year and lost to the eventual champion, Daria Kasatkina. She would hope for a strong performance on the grass court, given that Wimbledon, where she’s defending her fourth-round run, is just a week away.

The mixed doubles partnership with Alcaraz, meanwhile, has the tennis world excited for the US Open. During a Queen’s Club press conference, the Spaniard revealed he made the special request to team up with Raducanu. He said, “I was thinking that I couldn’t play better if it wasn’t with Emma. I just asked Emma if she wants to play doubles with me.”
Jokingly, Alcaraz stated Raducanu is “the boss” in their partnership. Excitedly he added, “I know Emma since a really long time ago, so we know each other. I have really good relationship with her.”

With both players having noteworthy grass court seasons, it would be interesting to see them perform at the US Open.
