What Games You Shouldn’t Miss in the College Football 2025 Season?

In a recent interview with Stewart Mandel by The Athletic, Mandel shared his thoughts on which games will have the most intrigue:

Week 1: Texas at Ohio State

Mandel kicks off with a blockbuster in Columbus. “I’m using up my Horseshoe trip early,” he said. Texas will face Ohio State’s relentless home crowd, making this a potential playoff preview.

Week 2: Michigan at Oklahoma

Drama will happen when Michigan’s Bryce Underwood battles Oklahoma’s John Mateer.

Week 3: Florida at LSU

“Death Valley is my favorite atmosphere in the country,” Mandel declares. This SEC showdown in Baton Rouge promises a high night, with Florida’s resurgence tested against LSU’s home-field advantage.

Week 4: Washington at Washington State

A rare rivalry renewal on the Palouse, fueled by Washington’s Pac-12 exit.

Week 5: Oregon at Penn State

Passing on Alabama-Georgia, Mandel chooses a White Out at Beaver Stadium. Oregon’s speed meets Penn State’s intensity in a Big Ten clash.

Week 6: Clemson at North Carolina

Swinney vs. Belichick headlines this ACC battle. While Kenan Stadium isn’t a bucket-list venue, Mandel sees this coaching matchup as a potential turning point for both programs.

Week 7: Oklahoma vs. Texas (Dallas)

The Red River Rivalry at the Texas State Fair is an obvious choice for all fans. “Corn dogs for all,” Mandel says jokingly.

Week 8: USC at Notre Dame

With USC possibly ducking this rivalry in the future, Mandel prioritizes the South Bend showdown.

Week 9: Alabama at South Carolina

Mandel praises Brice-Williams Stadium’s underrated vibe and LaNorris Sellers’ star power. This SEC clash could be a trap for Alabama, adding intrigue.

Week 10: Georgia vs. Florida

The Cocktail Party in Jacksonville is a first for Mandel. “Embarrassing confession: I have never been,” he admits.

Week 11: BYU at Texas Tech

Skipping LSU-Alabama, Mandel chooses a Big 12 clash in Lubbock.

Week 12: Texas at Georgia

No justification needed for this SEC heavyweight face off. Texas’ road test in Athens could reshape the conference title race.

Week 13: USC at Oregon

A lighter week, but Mandel won’t miss Autzen Stadium’s intense game. USC’s playoff hopes could hinge on this late-season trip.

Week 14: Ohio State at Michigan

After last season’s drama, Mandel can’t skip The Game. Ann Arbor’s intensity makes this a worthy regular-season finale.

Week 15: SEC Championship (Atlanta)

Mandel closes with the SEC title game, potentially the last before it becomes a playoff play-in.
