The Florida Panthers are the first team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups since the Tampa Bay Lightning did it in 2020 and 2021.
On Tuesday night, June 17, the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 5-1, to clinch the Stanley Cup Final in a 4-2 series win. Sam Reinhart’s four goals tied former Montreal Canadians star Maurice “The Rocket” Richard’s effort in 1957 for a Stanley Cup Final record.
Former Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand earned his second cup victory. Florida’s Sam Bennett also took home the Conn Smythe Trophy with his league-leading 15 postseason goals.
But it wasn’t all smiles.
Fans React to a Last-Minute Misconduct Penalty From Evander Kane
With under three minutes left to play in the game, Edmonton’s Evander Kane hit Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk, with whom he had gone back and forth all series long, with his stick. He was assessed a 10-minute misconduct as a result.

Kane was ejected and didn’t take part in the closing handshake line.
Tkachuk, son of former St. Louis Blues great Keith Tkachuk, now has two Stanley Cup championships over nine NHL seasons. He’s been with the Panthers for the past three seasons. Tkachuk had seven goals and 15 assists over 22 games in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs leading up to Game 6.
Tkachuk scored a goal in the closing game, giving him eight goals and 23 points in the playoffs.
NHL fans watching the game sounded off expressing their thoughts on the matter.
That guy is such a goof! What a clown. This whole series he was a mess. Didn’t even make the hand shake line.

“Evander Kane was always a dirty player. Edmonton would be crazy to bring him back,” another wrote.
I’ll never understand him has all the talent to actually be great and not be a hack job but he has zero composure

“Kane doin what he does best this series,” said another fan on X.
“Needs to just not play hockey anymore. Garbage,” another said.
“Evander is such a low class piece of crap,” one fan also said.
Kane finished the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 21 games. Now, Kane gets to wonder why Edmonton came up short again for the second straight Stanley Cup Final.

But what’s wrong about what Kane did?
I love Kane
The guy hit him first
Nonsense
