Andy Roddick didn’t hold back when breaking down the 2025 Wimbledon Championships women’s singles odds by BetMGM during a recent show on Tennis Channel.
As the oddmaker’s favorites for this year’s crown were revealed, Roddick challenged the logic behind the list, questioning the absence of some contenders and raising concerns about Coco Gauff’s ability to break through the fourth-round barrier at the All England Club.
Andy Roddick Reacts to Odds for Wimbledon Women’s Singles Title
The discussion on Tennis Channel kicked off by showcasing the women with the top odds to win Wimbledon 2025. The list had Aryna Sabalenka (+250), Elena Rybakina (+500), Coco Gauff (+500), Iga Swiatek (+800), Mirra Andreeva (+900), Madison Keys (+1100), and Karolina Muchova (+1800) as the top contenders.
Gauff, the reigning French Open champion, was a focus of the discussion as she’s been stopped in the fourth round at Wimbledon three times since her breakthrough in 2019. Despite the hype surrounding her recent success on clay, Roddick pointed out that grass poses a very different challenge.
“We’ll see. Confidence coming off of Roland Garros,” Roddick said while speaking about why this could be the year that Gauff triumphs. “I think as far as a surface matchup… the book on Coco hasn’t changed because she’s won Roland Garros. She’s so good at what she does. But the entry point to the forehand with pace is still going to be the thing that people try to do against her consistently.”
According to Roddick, grass only amplifies this vulnerability. “The easiest surface to do that on, in my opinion, against her is on grass,” he added.
Roddick then called out BetMGM’s odds list for not featuring key players who could disrupt the draw as favorites. “Like these odds, like what the hell are we doing?” he asked. “We have no [Jasmine] Paolini. We have no [Barbora] Krejčíková. We’ve just deleted last year’s final.”
He added that Jessica Pegula “can be an absolute monster on grass,” because of her ability to change directions and how she hits her shots. “We need to redo those (the odds for some players),” he said.

Underrated Contenders Could Shake Up the Women’s Draw
Later in the segment, Roddick was asked whether any under-the-radar player could make a deep run this year. “I think there are a lot more names on the women’s side that have a potential path to victory than on the men’s side this year,” Roddick observed.
He gave a special nod to Amanda Anisimova, who recently impressed with her run at the Queen’s Club. “Watch out for Amanda Anisimova… she can play on this stuff. And if she gets hot, she can beat anyone in the world,” he added, referencing her strong recent form even though she fell to Tatjana Maria in the final in London.
