Will Caitlin Clark Win a Shooting Contest vs. Stephen Curry? Fever Star Reveals Candid Take on Possible Matchup

Fever star Caitlin Clark reacts to Stephen Curry, LeBron James shooting comparisons after her 32-point explosion against the Liberty.

Caitlin Clark is no stranger to lofty comparisons, especially with her deep shooting range and highlight-worthy performances. Just days after returning from a quad injury, the Indiana Fever star dropped 32 points in a statement win over the defending champion New York Liberty, earning praise from legends like LeBron James.

However, when asked about the growing chatter around a potential 3-point contest against Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry, Clark didn’t lean into the hype. Instead, she responded with humility, offering a candid take that reminded fans why her poise matches her range.

Caitlin Clark Says Stephen Curry Would Win a Shootout, But She’d Be Happy To Compete

Clark’s return to the Fever couldn’t have been louder. In her first game back after a five-game absence, the second-year guard finished with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists in a 102-88 upset of the defending WNBA champions. She buried seven three-pointers and looked every bit like the player who has been compared to Curry for her limitless range.

Still, when asked in a FanSided interview if she’d beat Curry in a three-point shootout, Clark didn’t hesitate.

“Probably Steph,” Clark said with a grin. “I would just be happy to be there, though.”

Despite a growing number of voices in the media drawing parallels between Clark and Curry, the Fever star made it clear she sees Curry as the superior shooter. She’s confident in her own range but didn’t claim the crown.

The conversation didn’t stop there. Clark was told during the same interview that she might even outshoot James in a contest.

“I don’t know about that,” she replied.

Caitlin Clark’s Return Powers Fever to Big Win as Playoff Chase Heats Up

The Fever had missed Clark’s presence during her injury spell. The move to rest her paid off, though. Clark didn’t show signs of rust in her return. She led Indiana to its most impressive win of the season against a Liberty squad that entered the matchup undefeated.

Her 32-point performance marked a season high. With Clark back, the Fever will look to climb the WNBA standings as they try to stay in the playoff race.

Clark’s return has not only reignited the Fever’s energy but also reaffirmed her status as one of the WNBA’s most dynamic players. Now tied with Chelsea Gray for the eighth-most career double-doubles by a guard, she continues to back up the buzz with numbers.

With the debate over a possible shootout against Curry still swirling, Clark’s next big-stage moment comes on June 22, when she faces Gray and the Aces.
