“You should be calculating a spot on the field where you think it’s going to come down, the field is like a grid, you ever see a graph paper?” Harbaugh told Wester. “That’s what the field is in your mind.”
As well as explaining the layout of the field to Wester, Harbaugh also shared what he believes goes into making a “great athlete.” Wester appeared to show Harbaugh that he had that quality inside of him.
Harbaugh kept talking to the rookie. Wester appeared to take it all in, replying with a constant string of “Yes Sirs.” Wester showed Harbaugh that he understood what his coach was saying.
“Nice, well done, getting a feel for it, that’s what great athletes do, they figure it out,” Harbaugh said.
Former NFL Wide Receiver Offers His Opinion on Wester
In a recent episode of the “Locked On Ravens” podcast, former Ravens wide receiver Qadry Ismail shared his opinion of Wester, revealing that he looked completely “comfortable” at an NFL level.

“I know that the college punt return vs. the pro punt return is entirely two different animals when you’ve got guys coming at you,” Ismail said. “But he looked comfortable. He didn’t look like it was something that he had to figure out.”
During his time at Colorado, under head coach Deion Sanders, Wester primarily lined up as a route-runner. He would sell the route, but also found a way to use his speed to keep defenders on their toes. Wester did that at the Ravens’ rookie minicamp.

“When it comes to speed, (Ravens offensive coordinator) Todd Monken loves to get the ball out of the quarterback’s hands real quick,” Ismail said. “I can see him also being in the equation.” Ismail also believed Wester would be a solid target for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Wester has built up a rapport with Jackson, hauling in a long reception and a touchdown from Jackson during a recent OTA.
