‘Sickening’ — Panthers Fans Left Feeling Ill After Blowing Massive Lead And Losing Game 4 In Overtime

Panthers fans were particularly disappointed after watching their team blow a 3-0 lead in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Edmonton Oilers seized victory from the jaws of defeat from the Florida Panthers, rebounding from what was initially a 3-0 deficit in the first period to claim a thrilling 5-4 victory in overtime and tie the series at two games apiece.

The Oilers knotted the score at 3-3 and then took the lead in the third period, only to have the Panthers respond with a late-game tying goal to send the contest to overtime, the third game so far in the Stanley Cup Final that has required extra time.

Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl capped the comeback victory with his fourth overtime game-winner of the postseason, setting a new NHL playoff record.

Panthers Fans Were Angered After Blowing A 3-0 Lead In Game 4

Panthers fans were understandably frustrated with their team afterward, many of whom saying they felt physically sick.

This fan kept his response simple, saying, “Throwing a 3-0 lead…sickening.”

Another fan ripped the team for gagging away the lead, saying, “Choked choked choked idk how we bounce back.”

This fan had a more reasoned take on the loss, saying, “Well, that was painful. Had all the chances in OT, but instead allowed a limp-wristed goal to lose.”

Another fan couldn’t believe how good Edmonton’s Calvin Pickard played in relief, saying, “Somehow mustered a choke job worse than game 1. Made Pickard look like Hasek. Bums.”

One fan had a loud message for the Panthers, yelling, “TAKE IT SERIOUSLY PLEASE ANOTHER GAME THAT WE HAVE THE TIME AND PLACE TO HAVE A GOOD WIN AND WE LOSE THIS IS ANOTHER YEAR WITH ANOTHER TEAM LETS WIN IT IN 6”

This fan blamed celebrity pop star Taylor Swift, who was in attendance, saying, “Get Taylor Swift the hell out of the building immediately. She got the Florida Panthers playing awkward just like she’s super awkward. I’m sick to my stomach.”

This fan kept a more optimistic outlook, saying, “Calm down everyone they only leveled the series, next game is on road were we excel we are 8-2 on the road this postseason we’ll find a way to get it done, be more positive, X (Twitter) is full of negative people.”

As did this fan: “My panthers in 6 prediction still lives on. Win game 5 and 6.”

Panthers Set Unfortunate NHL History With The Loss

Not only did Draisaitl become the first player in NHL history to have four overtime game-winning goals in the same postseason, but the Panthers also set NHL history themselves.

And it’s not the kind that they wanted to set. They became the first team in 38 different tries to fail to win a game in the Stanley Cup Final in which they enjoyed a 3-0 lead.
