American tennis legend Chris Evert often shares glimpses of her life on social media, and she continued that tradition with a heartfelt picture alongside fellow icon John McEnroe. The former American pros turned commentators were in Paris to cover the recently concluded Grand Slam, the French Open.

Evert and McEnroe recently covered the 2025 French Open for TNT Sports, which saw Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz win the coveted titles in their respective categories. After the tournament ended, Evert shared a heartfelt picture with McEnroe, adding a playful caption.

Chris Evert enjoyed a remarkable career, amassing a whopping 157 singles titles, including 18 Grand Slams. She won seven French Open titles, six at the US Open, three at Wimbledon, and two at the Australian Open.
Moreover, Evert held the top two spots in the WTA rankings for nearly a decade. Since retiring in 1989, the 70-year-old has engaged with the sport as a commentator, working with ESPN at the US Open and more recently with TNT Sports at the French Open.
Meanwhile, McEnroe also had an equally illustrious career, having secured 77 tour titles including seven Majors, four at the US Open and three at the Wimbledon Championships. Apart from this, the American won nine Grand Slam titles in doubles and one in mixed doubles. Like Evert, McEnroe also remained active in the sport through commentary for several notable networks after retiring.
John McEnroe and Chris Evert Stirred Controversy During Their French Open Coverage
Ahead of the men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Alcaraz, McEnroe drew comparisons between the young stars and Spanish legend Rafael Nadal, suggesting that both would be favored to beat him on clay. However, his comments were later met with widespread criticism from the fans online.
“These two guys to me, you look at those guys, you took a look at them bringing their A game. I’m saying Sinner and Alcaraz against Rafael Nadal on clay…You would make a serious argument with both guys if they would be favorite to beat Nadal at his best,” McEnroe said during TNT Sports’ pre-match show.

Meanwhile, during the women’s final between Aryna Sabalenka and Gauff, Chris Evert faced criticism for repeatedly commenting on every shot, with a group of fans also accusing her of doing biased commentary.
