On the tennis front, Kasatkina recently wrapped up her clay-court season. She competed at the 2025 Charleston Open, where she reached the third round before being defeated by eventual runner-up Sofia Kenin. Following that, she participated in the Madrid Open, again reaching the third round, only to lose to Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Kasatkina then competed at the Italian Open and the Internationaux de Strasbourg, but she faced early exits. She lost in the second round to Marta Kostyuk and in the first round to Emma Raducanu, respectively.

Most recently, Kasatkina played at the French Open, where she defeated the likes of Kateřina Siniaková, Léolia Jeanjean, and Paula Badosa before falling to Mirra Andreeva.

Daria Kasatkina Revealed Wanting To Be “Openly-Gay” as One of Reason for Nationality Change

Earlier this year, in March 2025, Kasatkina announced that she had officially become a permanent resident of Australia and has since been competing under the Australian flag. She made her debut for Australia at the 2025 Charleston Open.

“Australia is a place I love, is incredibly welcoming and a place where I feel totally at home. I love being in Melbourne and look forward to making my home there. Honestly, it feels different, I’m not going to lie. It’s emotional for me. I have to get used to it,” Daria Kasatkina wrote.

Kasatkina shared that her being “openly gay” made it impossible for her to remain in her birth country, Russia, prompting her to move to Australia.

“But I’m really happy to start this new chapter of my life representing Australia on the big stage. With everything going on in my previous country, I didn’t have much choice. For me, being openly gay, if I want to be myself, I have to make this step, and I did it,” she added.

Kasatkina is next set to compete at the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships, where she will kick off her singles campaign against wild card entrant Sonay Kartal in the first round. She has also partnered with Donna Vekić for the doubles event, and they will go up against the pair of Tímea Babos and Luisa Stefani in their opening match.
