WATCH: Caitlin Clark’s New Custom ‘Rookie of the Year’ Nike Kobe Shoes Go Viral Ahead of Fever vs. Sky

Ahead of the WNBA kickoff between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever, Cailtin Clark went viral yet again for her custom Nike Kobe 5 shoes.

Caitlin Clark is making waves yet again, as the Indiana Fever’s 2025 WNBA season kicks off. The Fever are starting the season with one of the most intriguing games, as they will take on Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. The history between Reese and Clark always seems to draw attention to their games, so kicking off the season against each other will be a spectacle.

Clark and Reese will certainly leave it all out on the floor against each other, just like they did last season and during their college battles between Iowa and LSU.  Before the game, Clark took to the court to practice and warm up, which caused a small frenzy online due to her choice of shoes.

Caitlin Clark Goes Viral for Custom Nike Kobe Shoes

As Clark hit the court to put up shots for the game against the Sky, she was clad in some new custom Nike Kobe shoes. Clark has been a proponent of Nike Kobes for a while and has gone viral before for her adoration of Kobe Bryant’s “Mamba Mentality” and his sneakers.

Clark has been seen on the court playing in Nike Kobe sneakers multiple times, including the famed Mambacita sneakers and the Kobe 5 Bruce Lee sneakers. For the Sky game, Clark donned custom Nike Kobes that were silver with a hint of red. These shoes are Nike Kobe 5 “Rookie of the Year” sneakers that were heavily anticipated.

The sneaker is expected to release in June 2025, so this was more like a sneak peek at what fans will be able to purchase in stores and online. Will the “Rookie of the Year” Nike Kobe 5 sneakers sell out upon release? We’ll find out soon enough.

Can the Indiana Fever Dominate the WNBA This Season?

Keeping with that “Mamba Mentality,” Clark seems poised for a major season to coincide with the release of her shoes. Clark, who comes into the season with some lofty expectations due to the improved roster of the Fever, could very well make a run at the MVP award this season.

The Fever added DeWanna Bonner, Sydney Colson, Natasha Howard, and Sophie Cunningham in the offseason, bolstering their roster and placing them right in the thick of contention for the WNBA championship.

Will the Fever be able to assert dominance on the league this season while being led by Clark? Can Clark win the MVP award this season? Do the Fever have enough to surpass the New York Liberty, Minnesota Lynx, and the Las Vegas Aces to win it all? We’ll find out soon enough.
