The Los Angeles Rams have clearly signaled their intentions to compete for another Super Bowl by signing veteran wide receiver Davante Adams and restructuring the contract of quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Los Angeles’ offense now looks strong enough across the board to get over the hump with Stafford and WR Puka Nacua leading the charge. However, bolstering the defense before the start of the 2025 regular season is in their best interest.
The Rams’ secondary is highlighted by Darious Williams, Kamren Curl, and Akhello Witherspoon, making obvious the need for a move. One option is to reunite with an All-Pro cornerback likely to be traded out of the AFC East.
Rams Predicted To Trade for Jalen Ramsey
Chances are the Miami Dolphins will deal All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey before Week 1, partially because of his lucrative three-year, $72 million contract. Trading for Ramsey may not require parting with a ton of assets but comes at an expensive price nonetheless.
How did the Rams win the Super Bowl in 2021? By not being afraid to go all-in for proven talent regardless of the cost attached to the addition. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay predicts Los Angeles to do so again by trading for Ramsey.
“A reunion with the Los Angeles Rams appears to be the most likely outcome for Jalen Ramsey this offseason,” Kay wrote. “After falling out of favor with the Miami Dolphins—a team that gave up a package headlined by a third-round pick to acquire him from the Rams during the 2022 offseason—it seems Ramsey could be going back to the organization he had arguably the best years of his career with.”
Ramsey spent a little less than four seasons in L.A., where he won a Super Bowl, earned three Pro Bowl selections, and was named a two-time All-Pro. While he may no longer be that caliber of player, the 30-year-old has still proven himself as a solid contributor. The Dolphins’ defense slotted at No. 11 in PFSN’s Defense+ metric last season, which Ramsey contributed to.
Alternatively, the Rams’ unit came in at No. 24 in PFSN’s data, making obvious their need for a familiar face like Ramsey. He has a tendency to be a hothead, but already being accustomed to playing under head coach Sean McVay will be a great help.
“Such a trade may not help the Rams too much down the line, but he’ll help give the Rams at least one more chance to lift the Lombardi Trophy during the Matthew Stafford era,” Kay concluded.
As Kay noted, this acquisition would give Stafford and Ramsey a shot ring No. 2, while Nacua and other youthful players get to fight for their first.
