Ahman Green’s history

Green started his career with the Seattle Seahawks, but his stay there was brief. Drafted out of Nebraska at 76th overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the organization, Green switched teams after just two years in Seattle.

Following the 1999 season, he joined the Green Bay Packers. Green immediately popped off with the franchise. Playing with quarterback Brett Favre, the running back ripped off five consecutive 1000-yard seasons, including an 1883-yard season in 2003.

Of course, he didn’t stay with the team forever. Green left the Packers after the 2006 season to join the Houston Texans. It was a brief stay in Houston as the running back was heading down the backend of his career.

That said, he got one last moment with the franchise where he made a name for himself, joining the Green Bay Packers once again for the 2009 season. It was his final NFL season.

In total, Green made four Pro Bowls, won seven Player of the Week awards, and was a two-time All-Pro.

As of the first day of the 2025 NFL Draft, Green is 48 years old. But even 16 years after his final in-game snap, the Packers have a job for him.

Ahman Green given role in 2025 NFL Draft

According to an April 17 Twitter/X post by Adam Schefter, the former Packers running back has work to do in the 2025 NFL Draft. Green has been tasked with reading the names of the players the Packers select in the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft.

As such, fans of Green can tune in on Day 2 of the NFL Draft to spot the back. However, with the time between picks varying, it is tough to lock in the exact times. Plus, selection times will be altered, possibly with little warning, if the Packers trade up or down.

The Packers enter draft week with the 54th overall pick and the 87th overall pick. This means that as of now, Green is expected to read two names at the event.

Of course, if the Packers trade up into the third round or trade down out of the first round into the second round, Green will get more work.

Every team operates differently, but Green might have a moment’s notice that a trade will be coming, so he can get ready. Put simply, he’ll have to roll with the punches.
