Tonight, the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins will face off on Thursday Night Football, and all eyes are on Bills superstar quarterback Josh Allen to see if he’ll play in this game.
During the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Allen finished the game with a large wrap on his left wrist. What happened to Allen, and what’s the latest on his status for Thursday Night Football?
Is Josh Allen Playing Tonight Against the Dolphins?
During the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s win over Arizona in Week 1, the Bills’ training staff examined Allen’s left hand. While backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky warmed up along Buffalo’s sideline at one point, Allen never missed an offensive snap. Instead, he finished the game with a hefty wrap around his hand and wrist.
Allen completed 18 of 23 attempts for 232 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ 34-28 win. He also rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
After Buffalo’s victory, Allen said his hand was “fine” but admitted that he would likely undergo X-rays. Fortunately, everything looked good. On Monday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott cleared Allen for the Week 2 contest against the Dolphins.
Allen was a full participant in every practice this week, and he’s good to go for tonight’s showdown against Miami.

For his career, Allen averages 28.9 points per game vs. Miami (12 games), with 72.9% of points coming via the pass (34.8% of those points being scored on the deep pass).
Add in the rushing TD equity with Brady calling the plays (as it is, Allen has 30+ rushing yards in nine of those games), and you’re going to have a hard time projecting any player in the sport to top Buffalo’s lead man in Week 2.
