Should You Trade WR Tee Higgins in Fantasy Football This Week?

With an injury and a bye week on the horizon, should fantasy managers try to trade Bengals WR Tee Higgins this week if possible?

Both Tee Higgins and the Cincinnati Bengals‘ offense have been questionable to start the 2023 season. Higgins has only had one week of fantasy relevance so far this season, which came in Week 2. That week, he was WR3. He caught eight of the 12 passes thrown his way for 89 yards and two TDs.

Fantasy football managers were hopeful that it was a get-right game for both him and Joe Burrow, and he would start to look like his old self moving forward. They were wrong, and Higgins finished as WR84 and WR83 the following two weeks. Additionally, he left the game on Sunday with a rib injury.

Tee Higgins’ Rest-of-Season Fantasy Outlook

It is tough to buy into Higgins with the state of the Bengals’ offense and Joe Burrow. Burrow is currently QB31 with a hurting calf and no ability to scramble. Throw in Higgins’ injury, and it is hard to see him as anything better than a Flex consideration based on the matchup moving forward. And the Bengals have some tough matchups.

Coming out of the Week 7 bye, they have San Francisco, Buffalo, and Houston, who have been better than expected.

Initially, it was thought that Higgins would miss some time, but as the week progresses, it looks like he might play. On Monday, Higgins said, “Really, it’s just up to me. Pain-wise, I might be able to go this week. I might not. You never know.”

Should I Trade Higgins?

The faster you can get out from under this Cincinnati offense, the better. Even if Burrow does improve, the primary recipient would be Ja’Marr Chase, and I don’t think he will improve enough to feed two WRs like in seasons past.

Finding a trade partner for Higgins will be an issue — you might have to package him with someone much more valuable. Good luck if you attempt to cut your losses.
