Fantasy TE Streamers and Rankings Week 5: Dalton Kincaid and Jonnu Smith Headline TE Options

Bye-week season is upon us, and that increases the competition for help on the waiver wire. Which TE streamers should be atop your priority list?

Trying to find fantasy football TE streamers is a weekly challenge, but it is important to keep battling, given the importance of every single point. With that in mind, who are some of the options on your waiver wire that offer the type of upside that could swing your Week 5 matchup?

Top TE Streamers for Week 5

Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills (vs. Jaguars in London)

I doubt Kincaid wrote home about his four-catch, 27-yard performance in the blowout win over the Dolphins, but I was encouraged by him out-targeting Dawson Knox 5-1. Baby steps, people; that’s all we can ask for at the TE position these days.

Kincaid is pretty clearly a future fantasy asset, and while I don’t believe they are going to feature any one tight end this season (rarely using three-WR, one-TE formations), he is trending in the direction of the preferred option.

The Jags saw the Falcons throw 36.7% of their passes to the TE position, certainly something worth noting as we enter bye-week season.

Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons (vs. Texans)

Have we really reached the point in the Kyle Pitts experience where he isn’t the TE1 on his own team? Consider me skeptical, but with at least six targets in three straight games, Smith is getting the attention from Desmond Ridder that we have wish-casted on Pitts for the past two seasons.

Of course, in adding Smith, you are letting Ridder control part of your lineup, and that is nothing less than terrifying. That said, the tight end position is going to get harder to stream before it gets easier, and you’d be wise to consider all options when addressing the position.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (at Patriots)

Like I said, any usage is plus usage at the TE position, and, like it or not, Hill was on the field enough for his versatile skill set to at least have my interest. With Derek Carr at less than 100%, Hill threw a pass, saw a target, and ran the ball four times in the loss to the Buccaneers.

There is no denying that the floor is as low as anyone, but when dealing with TE streamers, a low floor is simply part of doing business. Say what you will about Hill, but it cannot be denied that, because of his optionality, he carries with him a strong fantasy ceiling.

I’m not going to rank him as a top-10 play this week, but if I had to pick a TE ranked outside of my starter tier to post top-10 numbers, it would certainly be this jack-of-all-trades.
