Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards missed all of 2021 and sat out eight games last season, but he remains one of the most efficient runners in the game (career: 5.2 yards per carry) and is playing on an offense that is expected to take a step forward under the tutelage of Todd Monken. Is Edwards worth a flier in fantasy football drafts?

Gus Edwards’ Fantasy Outlook
J.K. Dobbins is the starting back in Baltimore, but he enters the season with a checkered health history — to say the least (23 games played and 27 missed during his three seasons). Behind Edwards on this depth chart is an unproven Justice Hill and a 30-year-old Melvin Gordon III.
When healthy, he's one of the NFL's most efficient RBs. What are Gus Edwards' fantasy projections in 2023, and should you draft him at his ADP? https://t.co/ZuoxxiQMgT

The speculation around the Ravens is that Monken is going to open up this offense (hence my support of Lamar Jackson winning the MVP this season), and that’s certainly a concern as Edwards averages under four receiving yards per game during his career.
The potency of Baltimore’s offense stands to give Edwards more value on a weekly basis, but his upside is capped by his lack of versatility.
Is Edwards a Good Fantasy Pick?
At his current asking price, I’m in on Edwards. Sure, he’s never going to win you a week, but with fragility ahead of him on the depth chart and enough of a sample size when it comes to efficiency, he profiles as a high-floor Flex play should Dobbins go down.
I do expect Edwards to be involved even with a healthy Dobbins, giving him in-case-of-emergency Flex value should you be in a tight lineup spot.

He’s not a target of mine, but once we get outside of the first 13 rounds, Edwards is a nice way to add depth to your fantasy football backfield.
