Davante Adams’ Fantasy Outlook for the 2023 NFL Season
Adams has been nothing short of a sure thing in fantasy football for the majority of the past seven seasons.
Outside of his 2019 campaign (where he missed four games), he has finished as a top-15 fantasy WR, which includes four top-five finishes four out of the last five seasons.
That includes last year, where he still proved to be a fantasy superstar without Aaron Rodgers under center. His stat line of 100-1516-14 in 2022 was right in line with his top-end production as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

But will that continue with Jimmy Garoppolo under center in 2023?
Well, there is no doubt that Adams will still be the unquestioned alpha in the WR room this upcoming season. Going from Derek Carr — who he played college ball with at Fresno State — to Jimmy G (who has missed 17 games over the last three seasons) could have a negative impact on Adams’ elite production.
It is also worth noting that Adams is set to turn 31 later this season. Now, just because a player is 30 years old doesn’t mean the production will automatically significantly drop. But the age cliff is approaching and tends to strike at any moment past the age of 30.
Is Adams a Good Fantasy Pick?
When it comes to selecting a great player who is north of 30 years old, you really shouldn’t try to overthink things.
Could Father Time tap him on the shoulder in 2023? Sure.
Does a potential injury to his starting QB — who has a lengthy history of durability issues — make it possible that Adams will have to catch passes from either Brian Hoyer or rookie QB Aidan O’Connell? Possibly.
Could the Raiders see fewer scoring opportunities if RB Josh Jacobs’ contract dispute lingers into the regular season? Maybe.
While these could be potential scenarios to play out, perhaps it is wiser to change the questions.
