Jacksonville Jaguars Divisional Round Opponents and Scenarios

The Jaguars came into the NFL playoffs as the fourth seed with a 9-8 record. They were also AFC South champions after surpassing the Titans in the final week of the season.

This means that there are a number of possible scenarios and opponents for the Jaguars in the Divisional Round depending on which AFC teams win this weekend.

Scenario #1: Favorites Sweep the Board

Update: The Bills and Bengals both won their respective contests. That means that the Jaguars will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in the Divisional Round.

The first scenario is the one that is most likely right now based on the odds provided by our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook. If both the Buffalo Bills, who are the two seed in the AFC, and the Cincinnati Bengals, who are the three seed, win, then Jaguars will remain in their current spot and will face off against Kansas City.

With Skylar Thompson starting for Miami, they are currently 13.5-point underdogs on the road in Buffalo. If they were to somehow get the win, it would be considered one of the biggest upsets in NFL playoff history.

When it comes to Cincinnati, they are also massive favorites at home, laying 8.5 points against Baltimore. The Bengals beat the Ravens last week 27-16. Now, in their second game in two weeks, they will also be facing a backup in either Tyler Huntley or third-stringer Anthony Brown. Either way, it is not Lamar Jackson under center.

Scenario #2: Miami Shocks the World

Let’s say Skylar Thompson somehow evolves into Brock Purdy for one game and shocks the world, that would mean that Miami will be facing Kansas City in the Divisional Round. This scenario would leave Jacksonville waiting for the winner of Cincinnati and Baltimore. If Baltimore wins, then Jacksonville would get a Divisional Round home game.

However, if the three-seed Bengals win, then as the fourth seed, the Jaguars would need to travel to Cincinnati.

Scenario #3: Baltimore and Buffalo Win

Another scenario for the Jaguars would be if Buffalo gets the job done as they are expected to, but Baltimore upsets Cincinnati. If this were to happen, the Jaguars would need to travel to Buffalo in the Divisional Round to take on the second-seed Bills. As the sixth seed, the Ravens would take on Kansas City.
