Knowing who to target as a D/ST streamer in fantasy football is critical to winning your matchups. Here’s a look at five D/ST streamers to keep in mind heading into Week 4.
Week 4 D/ST Streamers | AFC
The Bengals were impressive against the Steelers last week and have an even better Week 4 matchup.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have recorded at least 3 sacks in every game this season. They just held the Steelers to 10 points while intercepting Ben Roethlisberger twice. This week, Cincinnati has a home date against Trevor Lawrence.
The first overall pick was labeled “generational” during the pre-draft process, but he’s been anything but through three games. Lawrence has thrown at least 2 picks in every game this season for a total of 7. With Jacksonville’s offensive line struggling to keep Lawrence upright, it could be another festival of turnovers on Thursday Night Football.
The Bengals are one of the top Week 4 D/ST streamers and will be moving up in the D/ST rankings.
Tennessee Titans
Unlike the Bengals, the Titans have not played well defensively this season. They’ve allowed point totals of 38, 30, and 16 in their first three games. But Tennessee’s status as a top D/ST streamer has nothing to do with themselves — it has everything to do with their opponent.
The Jets have scored just 20 points this season and are fresh off getting dominated by the Broncos. Although they are at home, it seems quite likely that New York’s porous offensive line will lead to more Zach Wilson interceptions and sacks. Like Lawrence, Wilson has thrown the ball to the wrong team 7 times.
The Broncos sacked him 5 times last week and picked him off twice. At this point, any defense facing the Jets is a threat to rack up the fantasy points. The Titans are a great D/ST streamer in Week 4.
Week 4 D/ST Streamers | NFC
The Week 4 options in the NFC aren’t great, but the Bears have a favorable matchup at home against the Lions.
Chicago Bears
The Bears have struggled defensively in their two road contests but dominated in their lone home game. This week, Chicago faces the winless Lions at home.
In their last home game, the Bears held the Bengals to 17 points. They sacked Joe Burrow 5 times, picked him off 3 times, recovered a fumble, and scored a touchdown. I wouldn’t expect that level of productivity, but they are well worth grabbing off the waiver wire as a Week 4 D/ST streamer.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers flopped in what was supposed to be a dream matchup in Week 2 at home against the Lions. But when searching for D/ST streamers, beggars can’t be choosers.
In Week 4, Green Bay has a home date with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Simply put, Ben Roethlisberger looks done. He’s a surefire Hall of Famer in my eyes, but his time as a starting NFL quarterback is at its end. It took Roethlisberger 58 pass attempts to get to 318 yards last week. He can’t push the ball downfield, he can barely move, and he just seems finished.
Aaron Rodgers will cause the Steelers to lean on the passing attack once again. When the opposing team is forced to pass, sacks and turnovers are likely to follow. The Packers are a solid Week 4 D/ST streamer.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints posted an excellent performance against the Patriots in Week 3, so it’s a coin flip as to whether they’re actually available in your league. Despite not being viewed as a workable streamer prior to last week, the Saints turned out to be an elite option. New Orleans recorded 2 sacks, 3 interceptions (one of which was returned for a touchdown), and held New England to 13 points.
This week, the Saints host the winless New York Giants. Daniel Jones has done a better job protecting the football this season, but the Giants are still one of the worst teams in the NFL. Moreover, New York’s top three wide receivers all got hurt in Week 3. You can certainly get by with the Saints as a Week 4 D/ST streamer.
