Cam Skattebo suffered a brutal Week 8 injury last season: a dislocated ankle, a tibia and fibula fracture, and a deltoid ligament rupture all in one catastrophic event. Any one of those injuries requires significant offseason attention and rehabilitation, making it all the more impressive that he is currently pacing to be a full-go for the start of the season.
Despite a minor blip early in training camp that included an infamous failed backflip attempt, nothing this summer has escalated to a major health concern.

Should You Draft Cam Skattebo in Fantasy Football?
In PFN’s Free Fantasy Mock Draft Simulator, Skattebo currently has an ADP of 38.2. Depending on how many people you have in your league, that’s probably a 4th-round pick. PFN’s a little lower on him than the consensus. Our two fantasy experts, Jason Katz and Kyle Soppe, currently have him ranked at 54 between the two of them. There’s a bit of a gap there, a round and a half of difference compared to where he’s going in the consensus.
The question with him now is how he’s going to fare recovering from an ankle dislocation. He also had a couple of other lower-body issues that factored into the injury in his leg, but the ankle dislocation was the big one.
He’s back now, but he’s got some competition. That’s a pretty decent Giants backfield. Most notably, Tyrone Tracy has a good amount of PPR value. I think that’s going to take away from Skattebo a little bit. They also brought in Najee Harris. Some people are wondering, with Najee in the mix now, what Skattebo’s upside is going to look like, because they have somewhat similar skill sets.
But Najee, at this stage, you’ve got to start playing outstanding, because Harris is washed. I’m sorry. I hate to say it. But he was never incredibly efficient with the Steelers, and then he went to the Chargers and got hurt. He didn’t even look all that great before he got hurt. My expectations for Harris, at the risk of sounding harsh, are very low as far as what he can provide. Unless he can prove himself on special teams, I’m not 100% sure he’s going to make the Giants’ 53-man roster over Devin Singletary or Eric Gray. That remains to be seen.
But Skattebo, I think, is going to be the primary short-yardage, goal-line sort of back. I think he’s going to have a lot of upside as far as touchdowns go. PPR, maybe not so much. Tracy’s definitely the more dynamic athlete of the two, but I think Skattebo is going to have a decent role.
I’d definitely draft him at his PFN ranking around 54. I’m a little iffy on that ADP being in the 38 range. I’d lean fade. Personally, I’d have him somewhere in the 40s. But if he falls to the 50s, I think Skattebo is absolutely a guy with his touchdown potential. He’s someone to take a shot on.

Cam Skattebo’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

It’s been an eventful offseason for Skats, as his rehab process went well, he couldn’t stick the landing on a backflip he should have never attempted, and suffered a camp setback that ended up not being much of anything.
A lot of noise, including a depth chart that, while not loaded with talent, does have NFL experience, just to land roughly where we assumed we’d be in terms of evaluation: the lead back on an offense trending in the right direction with a reckless style of play.
We can (and will) argue about his value over the course of four long months, but in terms of a Week 1 profile, his projectable volume lands him in my top-20. Dallas was the league’s worst third-down defense in 2025, a weakness that should allow this young offense to stay on the field and feed its RB1.
He ran 11 times for 45 yards when these teams met in Week 2 last season, production that doesn’t move the needle, but it was viewed as a positive step at the time after Skattebo registered negative 3 yards on the ground in his pro debut.
It’s Week 1, so the things we “know” are limited, but my confidence in his touch count is higher than what we have in New England, Tampa Bay, and Pittsburgh, to name a few. I’m lukewarm on him for the season, and even I can’t deny that he’s essentially a lineup lock with a versatile skill set and a projectable role.
