The Cincinnati Bengals’ season opener is rapidly approaching, but their Sept. 13 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can’t arrive fast enough. As that date draws near, more football fans are looking for a Tee Higgins injury update.
That especially includes fantasy football owners who are looking to get an early jump on setting their lineups for Week 1. So, what’s the latest on Higgins?
Tee Higgins Injury Update Provides Week 1 Optimism
The Bengals were back at practice on Tuesday after setting the roster, but Higgins was missing in action. He’s reportedly dealing with a heel contusion.
Yet, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor provided an update on his 27-year-old Pro Bowl receiver after practice. According to Taylor, Higgins may be limited in practice this week as he continues to deal with that heel injury.
However, from the sound of it, Taylor didn’t expect the injury to keep Higgins sidelined for long.

“Tee has a little heel contusion that’ll limit him this week, but he and Ja’Marr will be good at the end of week,” Taylor said.
Higgins was seen in street clothes as the Bengals practiced in near-90-degree heat. While he wasn’t practicing on Tuesday, as Fox 19’s Jeremy Rauch reported, the Bengals anticipate having their starting receiver in the lineup in time for the Week 1 kickoff.
Here’s Ja’Marr Chase at practice today.

The 6-foot-4 receiver ranked 22nd among wide receivers last season with a PFN Impact Score of 77.9. He did so while reaching Pro Bowl status for the first time in his six-year career, recording 846 receiving yards and 11 touchdown receptions.

The Bengals also started three different quarterbacks after Joe Burrow was limited to just eight games due to injury. With Burrow back to full health and ideally staying that way all season long, Higgins could be in for an even bigger and better season in 2026.
But it starts by making himself available in Week 1, and it appears as though he’s trending in that direction. Higgins started 14 of his 15 appearances last season but ended up playing in 12 games in each of the previous two years.
In other words, Higgins gets nicked up from time to time. But on this occasion, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be forced to miss any games for the Bengals.
