Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry is entering the final chapter of a legendary career that has made him universally recognized as the greatest shooter of all time. Curry also helped establish one of the NBA’s true dynasties as a member of the Golden State Warriors.
However, with the Warriors trending downwards, a former NFL star believes that it’s time for the two-time MVP to make a big decision.
Former NFL Star Says Stephen Curry Should Leave Warriors
Former NFL star Chad Johnson believes Curry should finish his career elsewhere, arguing the Warriors are no longer championship contenders.
While discussing Curry on “Nightcap,” Johnson said,” Are you sure he’s a one jersey guy? Knowing you don’t have a chance, don’t you want to finish your career with the opportunity to win a ring again? Why not end it on a high note? Golden State is not prepared to compete in the West, let alone win a championship.”

Curry’s future is a trending topic at the moment, as he’s currently playing under a one-year $62,587,158 contract. He’s eligible for a two-year, $136.7 million contract extension, but has yet to make a decision.
However, having spent his NBA career with the Warriors, Curry remains committed to the franchise. “There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen,” he told NBC Sports’ Dalton Johnson during a charity event at the Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club.
“The deal and contract stuff will happen in its right time, and we’re not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season.”
However, according to Johnson, Curry’s commitment to Golden State is a mistake.
The two-time MVP is entering his 18th season in the Bay Area, with the last season being frustrating for multiple reasons. Curry was injured, and the Warriors failed to advance from the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.
There was constant speculation that Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr may depart, but he signed a new deal.
Golden State was linked to LeBron James during free agency, but the 41-year-old decided to join the Philadelphia 76ers, which may have frustrated Curry.
The Warriors enter the season with an aging core, with six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler III working his way back from a serious knee injury and Draymond Green considered to be declining.
The organization drafted college star Yaxel Lendeborg, signed promising guard Brandon Williams, and re-signed Kristaps Porziņģis, but for Johnson, the current roster is far from being a threat to the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs.
