‘He’s Going To Cost the Team’ — Ravens Fans Call for Baltimore To ‘Cut’ Tyler Loop After Kicker’s Multiple Mistakes

The Baltimore Ravens had about as comfortable a preseason game as one can have in the NFL. Dispatching the Washington Commanders to the tune of 41-3, the game did not seem particularly close at any point in time.

However, for eagle-eyed fans, there are areas of the roster that still need improvement.

Among them, one key player who has been under scrutiny is Tyler Loop, after he had a rough outing in the final week of preseason.

Tyler Loop Isn’t Winning Over the Ravens Fan Base

Justin Tucker was released from the Ravens roster last offseason after allegations against him, alongside a general downturn in his consistency and numbers. Needing a replacement, the team drafted Loop in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

A solid rookie season saw him convert 30 of 34 field goal attempts. As a result, while still having room for improvement, it looked like the Ravens had figured it out at the kicker position.

That all changed in the final game of the year. A 44-yard field goal against the Pittsburgh Steelers that would have sent the Ravens to the playoffs despite a disastrous regular season overall went far right. From that point, opinions have completely soured on him.

Unfortunately, the preseason hasn’t helped matters either. Despite scoring 41 points, the game saw Loop miss two field goals after missing one in the first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The Ravens have shown Tyler Loop as much faith as they possibly can. They’ve said all the right things. They haven’t brought in competition. It isn’t even clear if they’ve had a kicker in for a workout. But it’s getting increasingly harder to justify their stance,” Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic said, starting the dialogue.

It didn’t take long for the Ravens faithful to share their opinions, too, as one fan outright claimed, “He needs to be cut asap,” while another took a brutal shot at Loop, writing, “With Justin Tucker, everyone was shocked when he missed. With Tyler Loop, everyone is shocked when he makes it.”

Others followed a similar thought process based on his inconsistency. “We need to cut him. He has proven himself nothing but unreliable and inconsistent.” It was clear that fans hadn’t forgotten his mistake from last season, as it marked the only kick under 50 yards that he’d missed all year.

One fan passionately argued, “GET IN A NEW KICKER. It doesn’t mean [expletive] if he can’t do [expletive] when the lights are bright.”

For some, though, the situation was far deeper. Explaining the consequences, one fan claimed, “He’s going to cost the team multiple games. You can’t have Super Bowl aspirations with the kicker being the worst player on the team.”

At a time when kickers are pushing the upper limits of field goals to well beyond 60 yards, and 50-yarders are becoming routine, one person believed it wasn’t going to be enough with Loop. “At some point, it’s not good enough, especially in today’s NFL.”

Another fan hilariously confessed, “Anything more than 35 out and I’m shivering.” However, most weren’t as polite with their vitriol against Loop. One passionate fan believed this could be a domino that could lead to general manager Eric DeCosta losing his job.

“He’s going to cost the team some games, and it’s on DeCosta being hard-headed. He will eventually cost DeCosta his job if he isn’t careful. The Harbaugh loyalty won’t fly anymore. DeCosta is skating on thin ice, and Biscotti’s patience will only last so long!”

It remains to be seen if the Ravens can find an alternative. For the time being, they haven’t really considered an alternative for the position.

But with the outcry getting louder, they might have to consider their options if Loop continues to be a problem.
