Beamer pointed to the Gamecocks’ 9-4 record in 2024 as evidence that the program has what it takes to compete at a high level. His comments quickly drew criticism from fans who believe South Carolina still has plenty to prove after a tough 2025 campaign.
CFB Fans Fire Back at Shane Beamer
Beamer recently told Insider Chris Low that there is a “very quiet confidence” around his team heading into the season. “We showed in ’24 that we can accomplish everything here,” he added.
His comments quickly drew attention on social media, with fans questioning whether the 2024 season was enough to support that level of confidence. Their skepticism comes after South Carolina struggled in 2025, finishing 4-8 overall and 1-7 in SEC play.

A fan by the X user name, Auburn Einstein, dismissed the optimism, saying, “Every year South Carolina is the most overhyped team.”
This fan, Liam, took a more sarcastic approach, writing, “The confidence in question:” alongside a meme of Beamer celebrating after South Carolina took a 30–3 halftime lead against Texas A&M before losing 31–30.

An X user, Jeffery, questioned the standard Beamer was using, writing, “‘Accomplish everything’ by going 9-3? South Carolina standards are cooked.”
The criticism then shifted toward Beamer’s job security. The SEC FP Network joked, “Translation: I need to win because my hotseat is scorching hot rn.”
One fan predicted, “Beamer will be let go by week 7,” while another was even more aggressive, writing, “He’s going to be fired by week 5.”
The reactions show just how little room Beamer has for another disappointing season. While some comments were clearly jokes, they reflect growing expectations around the Gamecocks.
South Carolina Makes Major Roster Changes
South Carolina has worked to rebuild its roster, leaning heavily on experienced transfers. Twenty-four of the Gamecocks’ 25 portal additions bring college experience.
The offensive line received significant attention, with the team adding veteran linemen, including Armando Nieves and Jacarrius Peak, to improve pass protection and establish stability up front.
On defense, South Carolina added edge rusher Caleb Herring from Tennessee and interior lineman Kelby Collins from Alabama to strengthen the unit.
