He threw 15 INTs last season without a single 50-yard completion, showing a distinct lack of interest in stretching the field, not exactly new information. Furthermore, health is naturally something to track in the unlikely instance that fantasy potential is flashed early in the season: he managed 14 games in 2025, which actually stands as his second-best season for availability.
The argument for drafting Tagovailoa, if you’re going to make it in a two-QB format, rests on his new ecosystem. The Falcons play indoors, offering perfect conditions for his timing-based passing style. He is also supported by three high-pedigree skill guys (Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitt) who are capable of turning accurate, short-target passes into significant yardage after the catch.

Based on the indoor environment and elite playmakers, I’d bet on “ATL QB” having a few top-10 weeks this year. But between the injury history and the looming competition, good luck finding who and when.
There’s more than enough talent in the QB pool this season to roll the dice this way. It can be tempting to go down this road because we’ve seen him do it with strong talent around him, but that was a picture-perfect situation/scheme blend that isn’t just unlikely to happen in Atlanta, but ever again during his career.
Tagovailoa figures to open the season under center in Atlanta, but that shouldn’t be the case for your fantasy team in any single QB setting, and he should be considered a long shot to be a priority add at any point during 2026.
