Romeo Doubs has produced almost the exact same fantasy season three years running without ever generating any excitement. A move to New England finally gets him out of the receiver rotation that defined his career in Green Bay. He now steps into a clear WR2 role with a better quarterback throwing him the ball. Fantasy managers should take a look at what that combination could produce.
Should I Draft Romeo Doubs in Fantasy Football?
Over the past three seasons, it is fair to say no player in fantasy football has been more consistent than Doubs. He has averaged 10.3, 10.2, and 10.3 fantasy points per game. That is not a typo. Three straight years of essentially identical production.
He is useful every season, though more as a player you plug into your lineup in a bind who will not leave you with a zero. Doubs has never been a needle mover, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

The reason for that capped ceiling is worth understanding. Doubs spent his entire career mired in the Green Bay receiver rotation, splitting snaps with a rotating cast and never getting a genuine opportunity to break out. Producing at that level while sharing a room that deep is more impressive than the raw numbers suggest.
New England changes the arrangement. He lands behind A.J. Brown, which is a real target hierarchy, but he is the unquestioned WR2 in that building. Although Jordan Love is a talented quarterback, Drake Maye is undeniably an upgrade, and that matters for a receiver whose value hinges on volume and efficiency rather than explosive plays.
The schedule works in his favor too. The Patriots are now playing a first-place schedule, which should force them to throw more often than Doubs was accustomed to in Green Bay. Tougher opponents mean more negative game scripts, and negative game scripts mean pass attempts.
Put those two things together and the math gets interesting. Doubs can very likely maintain the 19.3% target share he posted last season. The difference is that it would now be a share of a considerably larger passing pie. That is exactly how a player at this price outperforms his cost without needing anything dramatic to change about who he is.
His efficiency supports it as well. Doubs posted a 1.85 yards per route run last season, which is meaningfully better than what you typically get from a receiver ranked this far down the board. He wins his matchups. He simply has not been asked to do it often enough.
There is one more wrinkle that makes him more appealing to me than most. I have a bit of a fade on Brown this season, and if Brown falls short of what the market expects, some of that production has to go somewhere. Doubs is the most obvious beneficiary.

Doubs is my WR49 against a WR52 ADP. I am not sure how much of a ceiling exists here, and I would not draft him expecting one. But I am reasonably confident he outperforms his ADP expectation, and WR3 production is firmly in play.
If you need a safe, reliable set of hands late in drafts, Doubs is worth a look.
