‘The World Would Crack,’ ‘She’s So Right’ – WNBA Fans React As Sophie Cunningham Says ‘It’s Okay To Disagree’ in Trans-Athlete Debate

Sophie Cunningham's latest comments amid the ongoing trans-athlete debate are sparking strong reactions from WNBA fans.

Sophie Cunningham has remained at the center of the WNBA’s ongoing debate surrounding transgender athletes in women’s sports, with her views continuing to generate strong reactions on social media.

Ahead of Saturday’s Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty game, Cunningham shared a message, urging fans to embrace disagreement.

Cunningham suggested that satisfying everyone is impossible, saying that it is best to be yourself.

“People are like, ‘Hey, you guys have such a huge platform, use it.’ Once you use it, ‘Hey, stick to basketball, you’re an athlete,’” she said. “You can’t satisfy anyone, so you might as well just be yourself and beat to your own drum, and that’s what I do. I am 100% okay and happy and at peace with who I am.”

Cunningham continued, saying that Americans can improve at peacefully disagreeing with one another.

“There is always growth, and you can always be better. But I do think that’s something America can get better at, is maybe not always agreeing with people, but also just showing peace and love. It’s okay to disagree.”

The comments sparked strong reactions from both sides of the debate, leaving fans divided in the comments section.

“She’s so right,” a league observer said.

“Both sides can learn from these words,” another observer added.

A user claimed Cunningham to be everything liberals “resent,” saying:

“Liberals would literally eat her alive, say she’s a closet conservative and a Nazi, they do not want peace and love lol. Not to mention she’s a white blonde, everything they resent lol.”

“It’s awesome the way ppl have to try and NOT offend someone. Because omg if she would just be direct in what she truly believes, the world would crack,” another user commented.

With the trans-athlete debate being far from over, this likely won’t be the last time we hear Cunningham’s views on the topic.

Despite the off-court noise, Cunningham is having the best shooting season of her career. She is averaging 8.4 points per game while shooting 47.6%, including 44.1% from 3-point range, both career highs.
