Support for Sophie Cunningham hasn’t lost a bit of steam. It’s been a month since she declared her stance against trans women entering the WNBA, and there have been numerous rallies popping up across the nation in support of the Fever ball-player.
Last night’s Fever-Wings bout in Dallas led to yet another rally. It took place outside of the American Airlines Center as Cunningham’s supporters expressed their desires to protect girls’ locker rooms and spread further awareness of the ‘Save Women’s Sports’ movement.

The ‘Red Wave Press’, a self-proclaimed conservative news account on X, showcased the rally held in Dallas before tip-off.
D’Rinda Randall, who was appointed as the Chair of the Republican Party of Texas on June 12, was present at last evening’s protest.

“Women, we have had to fight for everything we have gotten. Title IX, when we got that and then also the right to vote. Now we’re having to fight for our girls and our women to stay in the sports that they have been gifted to do,” said Randall to the sea of protestors.
“There is no way that a man should oppress a woman to take over that sport,” she continued.
Christie Slape, the Texas Ambassador for ‘Moms For Liberty,’ also took a stand in support of Cunningham, saying, “Sophie exudes courage and confidence in a world seemingly full of chaos and confusion.”
Protestors thronged the rally with posters that read “Thank You Sophie” and “Biology Does Not Lie.”
Female volleyball player Brooke Slusser’s mother, Kim, was in attendance as well. She advocated for girls to “deserve a fair chance to compete.”
Texas Eagle Forum’s Cindi Castilla said, “Every one of those women gave their time, their day, social life, everything to the sport. We do not want anybody to push them out that doesn’t belong there.”
Cunningham was present at the Fever-Wings game last night, playing 15 minutes. After the game, she interacted with her supporters in the arena.
She signed a poster that read “Keep being you, we are behind you” from one of her fans while in high spirits.

It should be noted that Cunningham, after the rally that took place outside of Moda Center following Fever-Fire on July 31, said that she had “nothing” to do with them. “I think it’s people just practicing their rights of freedom of speech,” she continued.
The current Collective Bargaining Agreement states that ‘women’ are the only individuals permitted to play in the league. However, they have not defined what a ‘woman’ is.
This lack of a definition is what both sides of the discourse are perturbed by and want an answer to. With the Playoffs around the corner, it’ll be interesting to see whether the league remains relatively mum on the situation or addresses it head-on in due time.
