The Manning family just got a new player on the field.
Marshall Manning, son of the legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, made his high school debut on Thursday, his first game for Baylor School (TN). He continues a talent pipeline that started with his grandfather and has been passed down for multiple generations.
Dez Bryant Joins NFL World in Taking Notice of Marshall Manning’s High School Debut
The Manning family is arguably the most famous lineage in the NFL. Archie Manning started the tradition as a former NFL quarterback in the ’70s. Two of his sons, Peyton and Eli, became quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl wins; the other son, Cooper, didn’t play in the league, but his son Arch Manning is projected to become a lottery pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Marshall just started his high school career, but learning from such a storied family is bound to aid his development. With his debut broadcast live on ESPN, the NFL World reacted to yet another Manning joining the football rankings.
Former wide receiver Dez Bryant, who faced Eli Manning multiple times as part of the NFC East rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants, celebrated Marshall’s debut with a tweet:

ESPN’s “SportsCenter NEXT”, which is focused on all things related to high school sports, also made a tweet to celebrate the young baller’s debut. They made sure to reference that Marshall is a “2030 QB,” pointing out that he still has four years before officially joining the ranks of college football.

NFL analyst Warren Sharp, known for his use of analytics, transformed an historic moment into a good trolling tweet.

Miami Dolphins journalist Joe Schad noted the occasion during the preseason games, saying, “The Marshall Manning Era has begun”.
And finally, New York Giants podcaster Bobby Skinner also made fun of the situation, writing, “No pressure”.
It’s way too early to have any idea about the quarterback’s life and whether he’ll want to follow through with a career in the NFL. However, seeing another player emerge from the Manning pipeline only goes to show how deep football runs in the family.
Manning’s school, Baylor, won the game 38-20 over Brentwood Academy.
