Hall of Famer Drew Brees Pinpoints Which of Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow Are Next in Line For Super Bowl Ring

Drew Brees believes one player among Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow is poised to win his first championship.

The current era of the NFL has been as dominant for the quarterback position as ever before. With the game more reliant on the players under center than ever, we have seen some truly incredible talents like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson take center stage.

But among that quartet, only one player has racked up Super Bowl rings on his resume. For recently minted Hall of Famer Drew Brees, another one of the remaining three might be adding championship hardware in the near future.

Drew Brees Makes His Super Bowl Choice

Over the past decade, all three quarterbacks have established themselves as the cream of the crop in the NFL. Jackson and Allen have three MVPs between them, while Burrow has already been to a Super Bowl, albeit in a losing effort.

Still, Brees has his sights set on the next quarterback who is going to lead his team to the big game. Making an appearance on Fox Sports Radio, the New Orleans Saints legend made his choice.

“There are so many good quarterbacks out there. There are so many guys that I enjoy watching. I’ll start with Josh Allen. He’s certainly a fan favourite. I’m a huge fan of him. I love the way that he plays the game. I love how he’s evolved as a player.

“When he first came into this league, he was super raw. Unbelievable talent, unbelievable athlete. He’s really playing the quarterback position at a high level. You can tell how much his teammates love him, how much the community loves him. He means so much to Buffalo and that market. I would love to see him get one,” Brees said.

The Saints legend also went on to make a case for Jackson and Burrow, but circled back to their primary hurdle: the apex predator of the AFC.

“The problem is, then they all gotta go through Mahomes and the Chiefs, like what Peyton [Manning] had to go through with [Tom] Brady. How many Super Bowls does Peyton Manning go to if it’s not for Tom Brady?”

So far, the playoffs have been almost completely lopsided in Mahomes’ column against the rest of the quarterbacks in the conference. Outside of Burrow, no current AFC QB has a victory over the three-time Super Bowl champion in the postseason.

It remains to be seen if that dominance changes tune in the future. But for the time being, it is hard to summarily dismiss Mahomes and expect someone to leapfrog him.
