Few would argue against the idea that Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow are two of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in the NFL today. Last year, Herbert ranked 18th on PFN’s QB Impact Metric, and despite playing in just eight games, Burrow still came in at 10th.
They’re also both reportedly in high-profile relationships with famous women. Herbert is engaged to Grammy-nominated singer Madison Beer. Burrow is rumored to be dating Sports Illustrated model Olivia Ponton. Cameras have captured the two Pro Bowl quarterbacks spending time with their significant others while at training camp in the past few weeks.

While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with displaying some affection for your loved ones, these scenes have felt a bit more coordinated. So, what gives?
According to Ellyn Briggs of Front Office Sports, the recent public displays of affection from the two quarterbacks toward their girlfriends are “part of a larger content campaign.”
She reported, “These moments, it turns out, are at least partly coordinated. The viral canoodling-at-camp videos are part of a larger content campaign, a source close to the NFL told Front Office Sports.”
New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart has also been included in the upcoming media campaign. Dart is dating model Marissa Ayers, who was seen on Netflix as a ring girl during the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano fight in July of 2025.
Ultimately, the NFL’s goal is to help popularize these quarterbacks’ relationships with well-known women, in hopes of reaching a larger audience. It’s all part of the league’s strategy to connect with more women and young girls as a whole.

The league has benefited from music icon Taylor Swift’s fanbase’s sudden interest in the NFL once she started dating Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. Her fandom has helped fuel a whole new interest in the sport.
Now, the NFL appears to be trying to capitalize on that momentum and hopes it magnifies by propping up the biggest faces of the league: quarterbacks.
Herbert and Burrow are often seen with famous women, so why not capture their moments together and see if it can get fans of Beer’s music or those paying close attention to Ponton’s modeling career to develop an interest in what their other half does for a living too?
From the NFL’s perspective, it’s at least worth a shot. Some football purists may not appreciate the sideshows that take attention away from the game on the field. But it’s not hard to see how further growing the sport and making it even more popular benefits everyone associated with the league as a whole.
