Florida Gators’ Bold Jersey Reveal Overshadowed by Fan Response

The Gators made back-to-back uniform announcements on Wednesday, introducing two new looks for the 2026 season. The first reveal featured a combination of blue helmets, orange jerseys, and white pants.

Just over an hour later, Florida unveiled another design, the program’s first-ever all-blue uniform set. The fresh look includes a blue helmet, blue jersey, and blue pants, giving the Gators a modern appearance while staying true to the program’s signature colors.

The reveal drew plenty of reactions from fans.

“As a certified Gator Hater, these are spectacular,” a fan said.

“Looks like Boise State,” another user said.

However, not all reactions were positive, as one user on X labeled them as “awful.”

“I mean, it looks the exact same lol,” claimed a fan.

Florida is now entering a transition phase as Sumrall succeeded Billy Napier, who was fired last October and replaced by interim coach Billy Gonzales. The Gators finished with a 4-8 record last season after beating rival Florida State in November.

Though Sumrall has built a successful résumé at previous stops, 2026 marks his first opportunity as a head coach at the Power Four level. Expectations for his debut remain mixed, and not everyone was enthusiastic about the new uniforms.

“Gonna have more jersey combos than wins,” one fan claimed.

“The gimmicks you have to pull when you’re not relevant,” another user said.

In addition to the new combinations, Florida will also wear a 1960s throwback uniform this season to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Steve Spurrier’s 1966 Heisman Trophy win. The retro set features a blue helmet paired with a white jersey and white pants.

Florida previously experimented with alternate throwback looks featuring a white helmet in 2019, a blue helmet in 2020, and an orange helmet in both 2021 and 2025.

Florida has not announced when it will wear the new throwback uniform, but it is confirmed that it will rock blue helmets with a white jersey and pants.

The Gators will open the 2026 season against Florida Atlantic University at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on September 5, 2026.
