‘Look at What the WNBA Stole From Us’ – Analyst Slams DiJonai Carrington As Feminism’s ‘Nightmare’ After Sophie Cunningham Incident

One analyst is calling DiJonai Carrington a "nightmare" for the person she's become since leaving college for the WNBA.

On Saturday, during the Chicago Sky’s game against the Indiana Fever, DiJonai Carrington committed a hard Flagrant 2 foul on Sophie Cunningham, leading to the former’s ejection. Shortly after her ejection, Carrington took to Threads on social media to post “WHITE PRIVILEGE” while tagging the Fever’s page.

Naturally, a remark like that evoked a strong reaction from many parts of the sports community. While the incident happened almost a week ago, it’s still generating a discussion.

Analyst Offers Strong Take on WNBA, DiJonai Carrington

While one critic went as far as to call Carrington a “completely unserious person,” others are taking things even further.

That includes sports analyst Jason Whitlock, who shared his strong reaction to Carrington’s actions by posting, “Look at what the WNBA stole from us” on X. Whitlock went on to insinuate that Carrington was once the “dream of every black father and every black son.” But now she’s turned into “feminism’s creation and a nightmare.”

“Look at what the WNBA stole from us,” Whitlock posted. “The young lady on the left is the dream of every black father and every black son. The woman on the right is feminism’s creation and a nightmare. DiJonai Carrington in both pictures, one in college, the other in the WNBA.”

Obviously, as Whitlock noted, they’re the same person. But he doesn’t see it that way.

Of course, Carrington has since gotten older and matured to the age of 28 rather than somewhere between 18 and 21 in that picture Whitlock chose from her Stanford days. Even the ‘modern’ picture he chose of Carrington was from 2025, when she was still a member of the Dallas Wings.

Since leaving college in 2021, Carrington has worked hard to establish a role for herself after being overlooked as a second-round pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft. Now, she’s a member of the WNBA’s All-Defensive team and even won Most Improved Player in 2024.

So, yeah, she is a nightmare for any opponent that has to face her on the basketball court. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

Yet Whitlock suggests she’s been too heavily influenced by the WNBA’s politics and feminist controversies, which makes her a “nightmare” rather than the “dream” she once was.
