With Week 1 of the 2026 NFL preseason just two days away, joint practices are underway. And as expected, updates of brawls are flooding the social media timelines of football enthusiasts.
During the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets’ joint practice session, four fights were reported in two hours. However, after all the chaos, it was a scary moment involving the Jets’ 24-year-old cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers that overshadowed the day. After collapsing during the practice, he was quickly rushed to the hospital by an ambulance.

Initially, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that “concerned” Jets players were seen gathering around Stiggers, who was then “carried off on a stretcher with an IV.”
Later, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that Stiggers was conscious, and he praised the medical team for their response.
Soon after, NFL fans on social media started reacting to the news.
“Prayers up for Stiggers,” Jets writer Harrison Glaser wrote on X.

“Hopefully Qwan’tez Stiggers is okay,” NFL insider Josina Anderson said.
The Jet Press tweeted, “Really scary stuff, hope it’s more precautionary and not as bad as it seems.”
Echoing the same sentiment, NFL influencer PremeFootball wrote, “A really scary situation, but thankfully Stiggers appears to be OK.”

Coach Glenn revealed that Stiggers went to the sidelines after a play and fell. The medical staff quickly provided necessary treatment and eventually “he was able to talk.” Glenn claimed that, for the most part, the CB looked good before adding that he was going to visit Stiggers in the hospital.

Stiggers’ teammates were understandably concerned after what happened on the field.
“It was really scary,” Jets DT Harrison Phillips said, per ESPN. “It puts a lot of things in perspective. I’m really happy to hear most of the news has been positive, but the knee jerk reaction is you’re sitting there thinking, ‘What the [expletive]?'” he added.
Stiggers’ path to the NFL sounds more like fiction than reality. He never played college football. Instead, he rose through the ranks in Fan Controlled Football and the CFL, where he was named the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 2023.
The Jets rewarded him for his hard work, selecting him in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Now entering his third season, Stiggers is expected to build on the performances of his last couple of seasons. However, before all that, fans would like to see a fully recovered Stiggers up and running in Jets gear as quickly as possible.
