President Donald Trump’s Social Media Team Takes Fresh Swipe at Taylor Swift Amid Ongoing Feud

Donald Trump's team trolled Taylor Swift on TikTok, reigniting the feud between the president and the pop star.

The ongoing friction between President Donald Trump and pop superstar Taylor Swift reached a fresh flashpoint on social media after the campaign’s official TikTok account targeted the singer in a post that was later muted.

The @TeamTrump account, which commands roughly 14 million followers, posted a video celebrating August, featuring Trump and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks.

The post originally used Swift’s 2020 track “August” as its background music, accompanied by a caption directly taunting the pop icon, who married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in July.

The TikTok video included text overlaid across the screen stating, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.” The accompanying caption took a direct jab at the singer, reading: “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”

However, by Friday evening, users across the United States noticed that the track had been scrubbed from the clip. In place of the song, TikTok displayed a standard copyright notification stating, “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.”

The removal generated swift reactions from fans online, marking another chapter in the quiet licensing battle between Swift’s catalog and Trump-affiliated media channels.

This is not the first instance of Swift’s music being silenced on Trump-linked social accounts.

A previous post from November 2025 using her song “Father Figure” also had its audio removed following copyright actions. Despite the removals, Team Trump has periodically continued to utilize Swift’s tracks in various video edits to provoke reactions from her fanbase.

The tension between Trump and Swift has simmered publicly since the 2024 presidential election, when Swift endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. Following that endorsement, Trump posted on social media declaring his distaste for the singer.

Since then, the political friction has frequently crossed into sports and entertainment coverage, particularly given Swift’s high-profile relationship with Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs.

The recent TikTok clash follows comments Trump made in July 2026 about his social media reach and platform engagement metrics relative to those of top celebrities. Speaking about his performance on TikTok, Trump touted his follower growth and view numbers over Swift’s standing on the platform.

“It was announced about two days ago, and the new numbers just came out. You know who the number 1 person in TikTok is, by far? Trump. Me. I’m number 1. Like Taylor Swift was number 11,” Trump said.

“I’m number 1 in TikTok, by far,” he continued. “And the numbers just came out. And I said, well, you know, I’m hearing about how they influence – they’re talking about their tremendous danger because they influence. But if they influence so badly – I mean, I’m saying all things like, ‘I love our country, we got to stop communism, we got to do this and that, we’re doing a lot of things.'”

Public TikTok follower data contradicts this claim: as of early August 2026, Swift’s account had roughly 33.5 million followers, more than double Trump’s approximately 16.7 million, and independent fact-checkers, including Snopes and CNBC, found Trump was not the platform’s No. 1 account.

While Team Trump continues to use viral social media trends to build engagement among younger voters, Swift’s team has maintained a policy of asserting copyright controls when her intellectual property is used for political messaging.

With NFL training camps in full swing and the 2026 season approaching, the intersection of politics, sports, and pop culture remains a prominent fixture in national headlines.
