Aaron Donald’s return to the Los Angeles Rams seems just about imminent right now, and the expectations around seeing him join forces with Myles Garrett are simply sky-high.
Opposing offenses may already be dreading the thought of facing the duo, with former linebacker Emmanuel Acho offering his own warning about what such a pairing could mean.

When the Rams pulled off a blockbuster trade to acquire Garrett, speculation quickly emerged that Donald could come out of retirement to join him. After Donald took part in a workout with the Rams on Wednesday, the rumor is now manifesting into reality.
While Los Angeles and Donald can take their time before making the ultimate decision, Acho already sees great potential in the Donald-Garrett duo.
On the “Speakeasy” podcast on Wednesday, Acho said a defensive line featuring both Donald and Garrett would be the “best D-line in the history of football.”
“Because the two best are greater than two that we’ve ever seen playing on the same team at the same time,” Acho said. “You could argue we’ve seen deeper defensive lines. I’m sure there’s been historical defensive lines that will aggregate more sacks than those two. But what you could do with Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett, football fans, is like something you’ve never seen before.”

Donald spent his entire NFL career with the Rams and helped Los Angeles win a Super Bowl before retiring as the franchise’s all-time sacks leader with 111 in 154 games. The future Hall of Famer earned 10 Pro Bowl selections, three Defensive Player of the Year awards, and eight First-Team All-Pro honors.

As for Garrett, he is arguably the best defensive end in the league right now and finished No. 1 in PFN’s EDGE Impact Rankings last season. The ranking is hardly surprising as he recorded 23 sacks with the Cleveland Browns in 2025.
With Donald and Garrett in defense, Acho highlighted how it would be nearly impossible for offensive lines to defend against the duo executing stunts together.
“How do you handle a TE stunt between Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett?” Acho said. “How do you handle an ET stunt between Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett? TE tackle goes first, end loops around. ET end dives in, tackle loops around.
“How do you handle those stunts? If you put Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett together at the same time, offensive lines might as well be handicapped because they would be playing at such a disadvantage.”
Donald and Garrett have won five of the last nine DPOY awards, with Garrett claiming two of the past three. If Donald ultimately decides to return after his recent workout with the Rams, Los Angeles will be placed on a pedestal as the team to beat no matter what.
