Despite all the criticism he faces, Dak Prescott has had an incredible NFL career, and it feels like the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback is just getting started. While he’s 33 years old, there’s no denying that the Dallas Cowboys QB is bang in his prime.
Here’s a QB who’s led the NFL’s highest-scoring offense (twice) and even finished as the MVP runner-up in 2023. Yet, there’s that one big goal left on his list.
Dak Prescott’s Daughters Keeping His Eyes on the Prize
If there’s one big knock on Prescott’s game, it’s that he hasn’t been able to lead the Cowboys to more playoff success. In fact, he’s led them to a mere 2-5 record in the postseason. The Cowboys haven’t had a playoff win since 2022. That has to change.
But that’s part of what keeps Prescott, who’s had to battle back from numerous injuries, so hungry. Well, that and his daughters.
Prescott recently told KDFW Fox 4’s Sam Gannon that most of his motivation actually comes from wanting his daughters to be able to recognize him as a Super Bowl-winning QB someday.
“The love and passion I have for this game, and wanting to win,” Prescott said. “Being a father now, I want my girls to say my dad’s a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. I’m going to give this game everything that I have… I truly think this team and this organization are aligned and heading in that direction.”
Dak’s ultimate motivation?
His two daughters.

The Cowboys surely believe that they’re headed in the right direction too. Though that’s always the expectation for Jerry Jones’ team.
But this time, the Cowboys have drastically overhauled a defense that allowed the most points in the NFL last season. Rather than hoping Prescott will maintain his elite play (82.1 PFN Impact Grade, 6th among QBs), the Cowboys are looking to bank on a bigger improvement from the defense, now led by first-year coordinator Christian Parker.
Plus, the Cowboys have never been afraid to make an aggressive move if they feel like they’re a piece or two away from contention. The front office recently admitted such a move could be in play this season.
Eventually, the Cowboys are bound to find the right mix of talent and coaching.
Prescott just hopes it happens with him leading the way, so he can build a more complete legacy that he feels his daughters would be most proud of. If not, he’s still built a stellar career for a former fourth-round pick who saw 134 other players selected before him in the 2016 NFL Draft.
