Derrick Henry has spent the past several seasons proving he can still dominate despite the heavy workload that comes with being an elite running back. The Baltimore Ravens star ranked #36 in PFN’s Top 100 rankings and remains one of the NFL’s top players entering the 2026 season.
But with Henry now 32, questions around retirement continue to follow him like a very large shadow. This week, the veteran finally addressed where he stands on that conversation.
Derrick Henry Not Considering Retirement, Remains Focused on Ravens
The topic came up during a training camp appearance with the “Up & Adams” show. While discussing his future, Henry made it clear that if everything goes according to plan, he wants Baltimore to be the final stop of his career.
“When I’m done playing, I want it to be done playing here. So when I hang it up, Baltimore will be the last place I want to be.”
The veteran recently signed a two-year, $30 million extension that includes $25 million fully guaranteed and keeps him in Baltimore through the 2027 season. The deal carries an annual average value of $15 million, the highest contract ever given to a running back over 30 years old.
But when Adams shared a clip of the interview on social media and described it as Henry wanting to retire as a member of the Ravens, many fans thought Henry was considering walking away after 2027.
The former first-team All-Pro wasted no time stepping in to clear the air. Henry wanted fans to understand there was a difference between hoping Baltimore is his last team and suggesting the end of his career is close.

“I would like to finish my playing career with Ravens,” Henry wrote on X. “I never said anything about retiring lol, I’m enjoying being a Raven. I’ll worry about that retirement [expletive] later.”

That clarification should come as welcome news for the Ravens Flock, especially as Baltimore continues building its offense around Henry and two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
Even though Henry will turn 33 before the regular season ends, his numbers suggest he still has plenty left in the tank.
After posting a 95.8 rating in PFN’s RB Impact Rankings and finishing second in 2024, he followed that up with an 83.4 score that ranked seventh last season.
He rushed for 1,595 yards in 2025, his best total since the historic 2,000-yard campaign in 2020. On top of that, he has now recorded at least 10 rushing touchdowns in eight straight seasons.
He has also finished inside the top 10 in RB Impact Scoring seven times over the last eight years, showing remarkable consistency.
Heading into the new season, Baltimore’s offense is entering a different phase under a new head coach and offensive coordinator. Fans will expect Baltimore to deliver a stronger finish in 2026 than it managed a year ago and push for that long-awaited Super Bowl.
