Ever since Travis Kelce got married to Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar has been a near-daily fixture in the headlines. But with training camp underway, the three-time Super Bowl champion will now have to lock in as Kansas City looks to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of a lost season.
As Kelce reported to training camp, however, fans were quick to raise some concerns as a video of him went viral. As it turns out, you can’t always believe what you see on the internet.
Chiefs Reporter Shoots Down Fitness Concerns Around Travis Kelce
Training camp has been an interesting start for several teams. However, for the Chiefs, it raised concerns for a pretty bizarre reason.
A couple of weeks ago, footage of Kelce looking a bit out of shape made the rounds, prompting a lot of talk from Chiefs fans, especially because there was intense speculation he was on the verge of walking away from the sport.
Mind you, Kelce still looked great, all things considered, but some Chiefs fans were plenty concerned that he did not look as fit as he did in years past.
The whole turn of events raised doubt about whether Kelce could still be an impactful part of the Chiefs’ offense. However, Jesse Newell, Chiefs beat reporter for The Athletic, played his part in dismissing concerns around Kelce’s fitness.

In an X post, Newell said, “Because I saw the fake Travis Kelce beer gut AI practice video about 10 times this weekend … here is what Travis Kelce looks like at Chiefs camp this morning.” Newell also attached an image of Kelce in crisp quality, looking fantastic and ready to play football.

Speaking of playing football, Kelce is coming off of a very solid season. He had 851 yards and five touchdowns last season, which summed up to an 80.6 grade, good enough for fifth in PFSN’s Tight End Impact Metric Grade.
Two of Kelce’s better performances came in prime-time wins last year. The most yards he had in a game was 99 against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. He also had 78 yards versus the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football.
Kelce will aim to have another productive year. The Chiefs’ offense as a unit has a lot to prove heading into the season. Kansas City upgraded the running back room by bringing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to town, adding another dimension to the Patrick Mahomes-powered offense.
Having Walker out there should open up the passing game a little, allowing Mahomes to go back to working his magic.
