The hype for Travis Hunter as he came into the NFL was truly unprecedented. Hoping to become a legitimate first of his kind, there are still legitimate expectations for him to become a two-way star for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

After a disappointing first season that ended with an injury, the player and the organization must be hoping for a bounce-back second campaign. But before he takes the field as a sophomore, fans are already going bananas over his bulk-up.

Travis Hunter Turning Heads With Body Transformation

The Heisman Trophy winner in 2024, Hunter, was taken as the second overall pick by the Jaguars, who gave up two first-round picks, a second-round pick, and a fourth-round pick to acquire him, along with a sixth-round pick and a fourth-round pick from the Cleveland Browns.

The expectation was that he could find a similar level of success playing both wide receiver and cornerback as he did at Colorado. Unfortunately, his first year was largely a disappointment.

Through seven games, he added just 298 receiving yards and a single touchdown, while recording 15 total tackles and three pass deflections on the other side of the ball. But a torn LCL in his right knee ruled him out for the season, ending his campaign early.

Now, as he returns to the field during training camp, fans have quickly taken note of the massive difference in his body type. As SportsCenter put up a comparative picture from his rookie year to this season, the difference was impossible to ignore.

One fan quickly concluded, “This should make him a menace on defense. Wonder what it will do to his stamina given how much Jax wants to play him.” Others immediately cracked jokes, with one fan claiming, “Someone drug test this guy immediately.”

However, for one fan, the focus still remained on the two-way style Hunter wanted to implement. They complained, “Someone needs to tell this kid to focus on one position if he wants to make this a long lasting career… or he needs new friends.”

For some, the change in his body was no big deal. As they pointed out, “There’s no way he could have possibly got any smaller guys! Of course he’s bulked up.”

However, the attention quickly turned to the Buffaloes as well.

Another put the focus directly on their head coach, Deion Sanders, and said, “I hate to say it, but Deion been failing all them boys…They get big when they leave Colorado.”

It remains to be seen if the additional muscle affects his playstyle or effectiveness on the gridiron.

But the transformation has already made fans excited about seeing the new-look Hunter on the field. Whether it leads to a marked improvement over his rookie year, though, will be the ultimate litmus test for the change.
