Recent comments from the Dallas Cowboys front office have fueled speculation that they could be gearing up for a blockbuster trade, with Maxx Crosby among the names linked in the rumors.
However, the Las Vegas Raiders mainstay is not willing to allow those rumors to disrupt training camp.
Maxx Crosby Makes Feelings Clear Amid Cowboys Trade Rumors
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones recently told 105.3 The Fan that experienced veterans who still have plenty left in the tank can provide valuable help to the roster. He suggested Dallas could strengthen the team either by making a trade or signing a veteran as training camp progresses.
Even Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would not hesitate to part with a premium draft pick if it meant acquiring an impact player capable of helping Dallas compete for a Super Bowl.
During Tuesday’s State of the Team address, he was asked why the Cowboys walked away from pursuing a Crosby trade after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade with the Raiders.
Jones gave a brief but blunt response, saying simply, “We didn’t.”
As these discussions inspired a round of speculation surrounding Crosby and the Cowboys, the Raiders star shared his stance.

“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” Crosby told USA Today. “People act like if you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything, regardless of whether you want to or not. You can try to live in a cage, but then your teammate is coming up to you, ‘How do you deal with it?’”
The Raiders entertained trade discussions involving Crosby for an extended period, and he was eventually dealt to the Ravens in March after spending seven seasons in Las Vegas. The proposed deal, which would have sent two first-round picks to the Raiders, ultimately fell apart when Baltimore withdrew from the agreement.
Concerns over Crosby’s injury played a big role in the Ravens canceling the trade, leaving him with the Raiders. He said his attention remains on recovery and preparation for the season rather than on the failed deal or the Cowboys rumors.
“I’m getting rehab, the first thing this morning, and all my teammates are looking at it and I’m trying to ignore it,” Crosby added. “But ultimately, you just have to learn to roll with the punches. I’ve gone through a lot in my personal life, a lot in my football life. So, (stuff) like that is nothing.
“If the child version of me was looking at Stephen A. Smith talking about, ‘Is this dude the guy to come win you a Super Bowl?’ like I think that’s cool. Whether it’s made up or not. They wouldn’t be talking about you if you weren’t doing something right.”
Crosby missed the final two games of the 2025 season despite wanting to finish the year on the field. Throughout 29 games over the past two seasons, he has recorded 17.5 sacks and finished the 2025 season with an 89.3 PFN EDGE Impact grade.
