It’s been over two weeks since the San Francisco 49ers head coach, Kyle Shanahan, got in a car accident. Several questions have since emerged, such as why the team opted to conceal the incident for 11 days before revealing it to the media.
As the days go by, others are questioning what’s suddenly become the latest 49ers controversy. Now, another NFL podcaster is asking some pointed questions.
Where’s Kyle Shanahan’s Bodycam Footage?
A lot of information has surfaced since the public first learned of Shanahan’s accident on July 25. One piece of data that hasn’t been uncovered is the police’s bodycam footage from the night of the incident on July 14.
Now, one NFL podcaster, Scott Wetzel, is asking the question no one else seems to be wondering about. Specifically, he suggests that “There is DEFINITELY more to this story than meets the eye.”
Wetzel added, “They bury the story for 2+ weeks. No ticket is issued despite Shanahan saying he caused the accident. Now we don’t to see the body cam? They are covering up something.”

What could they be covering up? Some have been quick to speculate whether Shanahan was with a passenger at the time, but no one has confirmed the details yet.

Others have suggested that it’s a bit odd that the driver of the vehicle Shanahan crashed into hasn’t come forward with any information either. Again, no one seems to know the identity of the other driver.
As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported, the Palo Alto police won’t be releasing the bodycam footage, the 911 call, or an accident report. A lot of the answers folks are seeking are contained within those files, yet the police don’t have to volunteer that information just because podcasters want it.
Meanwhile, others are just wishing this controversy would disappear into the night, much like the 49ers likely would have preferred by initially burying it for 11 days.
Yet, there are still a lot of questions that the public would like answers to. Whether they’ll ever get them remains to be seen, but there are clearly still many people interested in uncovering more details.
Just don’t expect to see the bodycam footage, hear the 911 call, or have access to a police report any time soon.
