‘Could Easily Put Up First-Round Numbers’ — Why This Rookie RB Could Be the Key To Fantasy Football Championships

Should you draft Jeremiyah Love in 2026 fantasy football? His Round 2 ADP undersells a rookie floor and a December schedule built for fantasy playoff runs.

Draft season is an exercise in risk management. You spend the early rounds chasing proven volume, then a rookie running back on a bad team sits there daring you to bet talent over situation. Every year, one of those bets ends up deciding a title.

Draft Jeremiyah Love, and plan to stash him through a shaky first month. The Cardinals rookie is going RB13 in July PPR drafts, late in the second round, so the price already bakes in a slow start. That discount is the opportunity.

The hesitation is understandable. Love landed on a three-win team with a crowded backfield and an unsettled quarterback room, and the fantasy community has spent the summer talking itself down on him. That is exactly the kind of noise that creates a value, because the profile underneath it has not changed.

Jeremiyah Love’s Rookie Floor Makes Him a Round 2 Value

Start with the history, because it holds up. Every running back drafted inside the top 10 since 2012 has averaged at least 14.3 PPR points per game as a rookie from Christian McCaffrey at 14.3 to Saquon Barkley at 24.1. Bijan Robinson (14.5) and Ashton Jeanty (14.4) landed in messy situations and still cleared that bar. None of them busted.

Love carries the same draft capital. Arizona took him third overall, the highest a back has come off the board since Barkley in 2018, and teams do not spend that kind of pick to hand out a timeshare.

The receiving profile is what makes him a PPR fit. Love caught 85% of his targets at Notre Dame and projects for close to 300 touches as a rookie, with a real passing-down role. He was a 55-catch producer over two seasons as the lead back, and that skill set rarely rides the bench for long.

His discount is easy to explain. Arizona restructured James Conner, signed Tyler Allgeier away from Atlanta, and still rosters Trey Benson, so the early-season backfield projects as a committee. Coaches spent the start of camp declining to hand Love the lead job, the kind of caution that scares off drafters and depresses a price it should not.

That is why the tag sits closer to his floor than his ceiling. You are buying top-three draft capital at a second-round cost, and rookie backs with this profile tend to take the job by force once they are on the field.

Jeremiyah Love’s Playoff Schedule Points to a December Surge

Here is where the pick wins titles. PFN’s Kyle Soppe tagged Love as a fantasy playoff target, writing that he “could easily put up first-round numbers” once he settles in and clears his bye. Soppe’s data supports the timing, with top-10 rookie backs since 2016 averaging 15.8 PPR points through Week 3 and 18.1 after it. The production curve bends up late.

The calendar plays along. Love gets a Week 14 bye to reset, then draws the Jets, a trip to New Orleans, and the Raiders across Weeks 15 through 17, the exact stretch most leagues crown a champion. Soppe reads all three defenses as soft against the run, and two of the games sit at home in Arizona.

The ceiling is what managers keep shrugging off. Barkley posted that 24.1 rookie season on a 5-11 Giants team that finished 16th in scoring, carrying fantasy rosters to titles on 91 catches and 15 touchdowns. Arizona finished 31st in rushing and 23rd in scoring last season, grim in the same way that the Giants team was, and it still did not stop Barkley. If the Cardinals simplify their passing game around Jacoby Brissett or Carson Beck, the checkdowns and goal-line looks funnel straight to Love.

That is the championship case, and the market is not making you pay for it. Draft Love at cost, sit tight through whatever the first month brings, and you could be starting a top-five back in the weeks that decide your season.
