Former NFL MVP Josh Allen faced playoff heartbreak once again when the Buffalo Bills were dumped out of contention in the Divisional Round by the Denver Broncos. Allen was heavily criticized for his performance in the game against the Broncos and for failing to deliver a Super Bowl once again.
Analyst Urges Josh Allen to Leave the Buffalo Bills
During this week’s segment of “The Herd With Colin Cowherd,” analyst Jason McIntyre urged Allen to leave the Bills to win an elusive Super Bowl title after last season’s playoff disappointment.
“I think Josh Allen’s gotta leave Buffalo to win a Super Bowl,” McIntyre said. “Fantasy football fans love Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills love Josh Allen, but man, he’s had a rough go in the playoffs. It’s just been tough, and they’re coming off a really, really difficult season. So, Bills get passed in the division by the Patriots, and last year, the playoffs were so lined up for Buffalo, guys.
“No (Patrick) Mahomes, no Lamar Jackson, no (Joe) Burrow. It should have been the Josh Allen invitational, and they go to Denver. Allen was not great in that one, let’s be real, he was not good. And they lose that game, and you’re like, ‘Jeez, are they ever gonna get over the hump?’ They end up firing McDermott, their coach, who took them to the playoffs eight years in a row.”

Allen was imperious in the Bills’ Wild Card round 27-24 comeback win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, completing 28 of 35 passes for 306 total yards (33 yards rushing) and three touchdowns. The win represented the Bills’ first playoff win on the road in 33 years.
All of his good work was erased against the Broncos in the Divisional Round, where he accounted for three touchdowns, but added four turnovers, sullying his performance. He also became the first quarterback in a decade to lose two fumbles and throw two interceptions as the Bills lost 33-30 in overtime.

In Allen’s eight-year NFL career after being selected No. 7 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Bills under former head coach Sean McDermott had reached the AFC Championship Game twice. But four of their seven postseason losses have come at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, while the Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, and Houston Texans have also left a mark.
McIntyre doubled down on his claim about Allen’s only path to a Super Bowl coming through a different team.
“They’ve (Bills) had a top-five offensive line, they’ve had good receivers, they’ve had a great running back, they’ve had a great defense,” McIntyre said. “Everything’s been there, but I do think that Josh Allen needs to leave Buffalo to win a Super Bowl.”
Last season, Allen registered 3,668 passing yards on 69.3% completion, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while adding 579 rushing yards and 14 scores for the Bills during the regular season. He earned a PFN QB Impact score of 80.3, ranking him at No. 9 in the NFL.
