Caitlin Clark delivered a masterclass performance while leading the Indiana Fever to a 123-88 beatdown of the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday. Behind the three-time All-Star’s game-high 27 points and 11 assists in 27 minutes, the Fever tallied their highest scoring output at the half (70 points) and set a franchise record for most points in a game.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year shot a blistering 8-for-13, including 5-for-9 from 3-point range, as Indiana outscored Connecticut by 26 points with her on the floor.
Clark’s dazzling display and the Fever’s dominant win, their third straight heading into the All-Star break, created a buzz in the WNBA world.

With Wednesday’s eruption, Clark now has 10 career games with at least 25 points and 10 assists. According to ESPN, no other player has more than five such outings.
After yet another night where she etched her name in league history, the WNBA community reacted to Clark’s brilliance.

“I won’t be surprised if Caitlin Clark returns from the All-Star break and makes a run at MVP as the Fever continue to roll. She’s starting to look healthy and quick and in complete control of the W’s most explosive offense. But obviously she had to stay healthy, knock on wood,” veteran analyst Skip Bayless wrote.

The Sun tried their best to contain Clark but could only do so much despite her limited minutes. Near the end of the third quarter, Connecticut’s frustrations boiled over. Sun guard Saniya Rivers unsuccessfully tried to swipe the ball away from the point guard before teammate Olivia Nelson-Ododa was called for a foul.

Rivers accused Clark of flopping, prompting a heated exchange before Clark told her to “check the (expletive) scoreboard.”

The emphatic win improved the Fever’s record to 17-10, one game behind the Dallas Wings (18-9), for the league’s No. 4 spot. Meanwhile, Connecticut dropped to 7-20, the second-worst mark in the WNBA.
Clark and Co. will enjoy the All-Star break before they open the second half of the season with three straight road games, starting with a July 28 matchup against the Seattle Storm.
