NFL World Links Sleeper App’s New Feature to ESPN’s Matt Miller Scandal
This week, the Sleeper Sports App revealed a new safeguard, the SleeperSafe, a built-in feature that ensures users collect their dues on fantasy league apps directly from the platform.
The NFL community on X linked the Miller scandal to the new guardrails on the fantasy app:
PFN’s Colin D’Cunha referenced Miller’s alleged scheme while praising the application. “Okay, so they Matt Miller-proofed it,” he wrote.

Another user directly linked SleeperSafe to the ESPN analyst’s payout saga. “Sleeper doesn’t want anymore Matt Millers,” the user posted.
Matt made fun of the coincidental development of the feature at the peak of the Miller scandal, and wrote, “Was this built by the alleged victims of Matt Miller?”

Zach Schwartz revealed the necessity of the feature after Miller’s controversy went viral. “Had to need the Matt Miller move,” Schwartz posted.
Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway revealed last week that up to 26 complaints have been filed against Miller and that the ESPN analyst was under investigation by her office.
The complaints started trickling in when Miller’s family set up a GoFundMe for the hospital bills, which started at $10,000 but was raised to $55,000. Once the complaints mounted up, the GoFundMe was paused at $51,147 when the investigation by the Missouri A.G. began.
In an email to The Athletic, Miller explained the missed payments to the winners of the fantasy charity leagues and further revealed that he has sought legal counsel to represent him during the investigation.
“Because this is an active investigation, I’ve been told by legal counsel to limit my response,” Miller said in an email. “However, I’ve tried reaching out to all the winners from the last season to make sure they’ve been paid.”
“My [direct messages] on all social media remain open for winners to contact me,” Miller added. “Because of my limited access to my original email account, I have had trouble authenticating winners, but everyone who finished in first, second, or third place will be paid out, and I’ve worked hard to make that happen.”
