Polarizing wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continued his onslaught against the San Francisco 49ers last week as he accused the franchise of colluding with the NFLPA to tarnish his reputation. Aiyuk has been involved in the NFL offseason’s longest-running standoff with the 49ers, while publicly pining for a move to the Washington Commanders.
Emmanuel Acho Makes Brandon Aiyuk Declaration
During Monday’s segment of the “Speakeasy” podcast, former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho declared that Aiyuk’s NFL career was over due to his latest comments.
“It’s the end of the road for Brandon Aiyuk,” Acho said. “At some point, humility has to slap you in the face. At some point, you just gotta run into a brick wall of humility. Brandon Aiyuk, you’re out here talking about you create plays for everybody else and you’re tired of taking a back seat to people that are not as good as you? George Kittle? (Christian) McCaffery? Deebo (Samuel) back in the gap? These are all first-team All-Pros.
“B.A, you had an incredible year of a second-team All-Pro. You’re an incredible player, but put an address on it because it’s getting lost in the mail. Who is not as good as you that you’re playing a backseat to?… Who was it?… At some point in time, Brandon Aiyuk has to run into the wall of humility, and he still hasn’t yet. He done called out Jayden Daniels’ mama… you can’t do certain things. I think he’s done, it’s the end of the road.”

While Aiyuk remains under contract with the 49ers, he has burned almost all of the bridges with the coaching staff and front office, including mocking general manager John Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and his former agent.
The wide receiver is on the 49ers’ reserve/left squad list and would have to apply for reinstatement with the league before being released or traded.

Ex-49ers Safety Makes Brutal Aiyuk Prediction
During Monday’s segment of the “Jim Rome Show,” former 49ers safety Donte Whitner revealed that the franchise owners in the NFL would collaborate to ensure that Aiyuk would not get another chance in the league.
“I truly believe he’s played his last down in the NFL,” Whitner said. “A lot of these owners, they will collude. They’re friends. They’re business partners. And if you disrespect one organization, do you think they’re not on the phone telling other owners not to bring you into their organization? He’s a fool if he doesn’t think that. So, in my opinion, I think Brandon Aiyuk has played his last down in the NFL.”
Before he tore his ACL in 2024, Aiyuk had the best season of his career for the 49ers. In 2023, he registered 1,342 receiving yards on 75 receptions, resulting in seven touchdowns, earning the sixth-highest PFN Wide Receiver Impact score in the league.
His form in 2023 led to the 49ers rewarding him with a mammoth four-year, $120 million contract, which kick-started the current standoff when his guaranteed money was voided after missing several mandatory rehab sessions with the team’s medical staff.
