‘Currently the Face Of the WNBA’ – Analyst Boldly Explains Why Sophie Cunningham Has an Exclusive Adidas Shoe

Many believe Fever star Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA, but one analyst claims it’s currently Clark’s Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham.

There has been a lot of chatter about who the WNBA’s face is.

Some prominent media members believe it is Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, while others don’t think Clark has earned that moniker.

Others think it actually may be Clark’s teammate, Sophie Cunningham.

Veteran Analyst Believes Sophie Cunningham, Not Caitlin Clark, Is the Face of the WNBA

Clark has arguably been the most popular women’s basketball player since she burst onto the scene at Iowa.

Clark’s popularity has become so intense that it sometimes feels like a distraction, and her coach, Stephanie White, has even had to tell fans to turn it down.

Despite those issues, Clark is still averaging 19.7 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game, securing her place on the All-Star team.

However, some believe Clark may not even be the face of the Fever.

Teammate Sophie Cunningham has been in the spotlight lately, gaining popularity through her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue appearance and her audition as a ring girl at UCF 329.

Now, Cunningham is getting her own signature shoe.

Cunningham will have her own PE of the Adidas Crazy Energy, which will drop on July 24 for $120.

“The colorway leans into a sunset-inspired palette,” writes Jessica Toomer of Just Women’s Sports. “A hot pink toe box gives way to a clean white heel, with pops of orange running along the sole. Blue Three Stripes branding sits on the tongue and heel, and the same blue tone shows through the mesh side panels.”

“While Cunningham doesn’t have her own logo, the color blocking alone should mark the shoe as hers on the court.”

There has been a lot of discussion about Cunningham getting a shoe deal because of her production on the court. She is certainly a useful player, but she’s still more of a role player, averaging 9.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

Of course, being the face of the league isn’t just about what you do on the court, whether that is fair or not, and Cunningham’s off-court life has helped turn her into one of the more well-known female athletes in the country.

Veteran commentator Dan Dakich explained why Cunningham has her own shoe.

“She has a shoe because companies are in business to make money, and Sophie Cunningham is currently the face of the WNBA,” Dakich said. “Because she’s smarter than you. She’s smarter than all of you. She understands what she looks like and if that’s being white, blonde and attractive, tough. That’s what she looks like. That’s what God gave her.”

“She’s worked on her body,” he added. “She’s a pro basketball player that understands modern social media.”

Dakich went on to praise Cunningham’s looks and called her a “bad ***” on the court.

With Cunningham’s rising popularity, this may be the first of many opportunities she gets.
