Heading into his second NFL season, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is expected to be the team’s RB1 once again. After hiring new head coach John Harbaugh and making some notable additions this offseason, the Giants now enter this season with heightened expectations. And according to former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, this team has what it takes to win it all.
Skattebo’s first NFL season was plagued by injuries, but his production through the first eight weeks of the season proved significant. Perhaps what stood out the most was his rapport with Dart, as both were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft and they hit it off right away.
Robert Griffin III Raves About Giants RB Cam Skattebo
While speaking on his show “Outta Pocket with Robert Griffin III,” RGIII floated an ambitious prediction for the Giants. According to him, Skattebo and Dart have what it takes to lead New York to the Super Bowl and hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

“This is a running back who runs through brick walls, literally uses his helmet right before the games, and anytime you have a guy like that, you know he’s like missing a screw or two, like he’s a little crazy,” Griffin chuckled while raving about Skattebo’s physicality in a reshared clip.
“One of his teammates even said the guy is legit an idiot, and they meant that in an endearing way, like a loving way,” he added.

Skattebo’s upside was on display when the Giants pulled off an upset win over the Eagles in Week 6 last season. Skattebo scored 3 touchdowns while rushing for 98 yards, as he looked like the dominant running back we saw at Arizona State.
According to PFN’s RB Impact Metric, Skattebo posted a score of 70.9 last season, ranking 40th among running backs in the league, and averaged 4.1 yards per carry, which ranked 30th in the NFL. After just eight games, he suffered a season-ending ankle dislocation that also included an open fracture and ligament damage.
The 2026 season will prove crucial for both Skattebo and Dart, who is viewed as the team’s next franchise quarterback. New York has been searching for a long-term solution under center since Eli Manning’s two Super Bowl victories over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
The Giants will kick off the season against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13 in a primetime matchup at MetLife Stadium.
